...Ozzy's "Crazy Train"!

I just came across this track once again after a few years. Love it. While the sound of the original is more than dated nowadays it's still kind of apropriate for the song imo. However I'm sure this would sound HUGE with a modern Metal production.

Unfortunetaly I suck at shredding. Otherwise I would have recorded it a long time ago.

Anyway maybe someone with sKilLz and time shares my opinion. If so please let me hear the result.

Good idea dude! I might have a go at this :D But I'm sure someone else could do a much better cover of it than me haha, I just looked at the tabs :D

Haha, yeah well, it's one hell of a song. I can play the main riff and a simplified version of the rest of the rhythm guitar and that's about it.

skolnick already copied the solo for Testament's "The Ballad." true story, give it a listen.

I'm not much of a shredder, but crazy train and Mr crowley i can probably still do...

There are songs you can only loose if you try to cover them.
The two posted versions show that.

The original version completely lives from Randy Rhoads playing, which a lot of people seem to consider as "just another guitarist playing a riff"
Few people reach the musicality of his playing, IMO.

Randy Rhoads had a very expressive playing, one of my all time fav guitarists. But I really don't like this song. Mr Crowley is just so more awesome.

I think the only cover I've heard of crazy train was some weird-ass country+western interpretation or something

Has anybody heard the Michael Angelo Batio Version? Some sick playing on that : )

No way man, theres way too much rhythm guitar in crazy train for that to work.

Me like this one

the only better version of that song, is the live version on the tribute album, Randy kicked his own ass.

+10,000

Im not really one for widdly guitarists. doesnt really impress me; but Randy Rhoads and EVH are a different league all together.

I learnt how to play the live crazy train note for note a few years back; when i was still getting lessons. that shit is hard.
