Dude this is embarasing ......about that EMG81 thing...

In my last thread I thought I fixed my guitar, but I didn't actually. MY TONE knob wasn't turned to full and the signal looked fine. Then it clipped again, very much, a lot!!!!!

Now I tried the 18V mod and the signal looks less compressed , but here's the new problem.....When I record my soundcard clips, even if I have the soundcard's input knob at the lowest value....
Gues 18V is not so great :S

If you're using a cheap ass soundcard with an adaptor or something (which sounds like what you are describing, if not my bad) - recording through it is guaranteed to sound crap, and yeah it will probably clip to fuck because they're not designed to record guitars.

You obviously don't know what you're doing. Take it to a tech and have it properly installed, and the guitar setup/intonated.

My 18V EMG 707 gives a signal that is about 6.5 dB louder than when it was at 9V.
