Soundproofing windows

Ive searched through the forums/google extensively and haven't found a whole lot of info for my particular situation. Basically im looking for multiple ideas to work with.

Ive moved into a new house (rent i don't own it) and made the den/living area my control/tracking room. There is a huge window roughly 6' x 9' that might as well be wide open, as sound goes right through it. The big problem is drums.

I cant install anything permanent, as ill have to remove it when my lease is up.

I cut 3 panels of plywood, wrapped it in black flannel to make it look nice and stuck it in the window. It didn't help a whole lot.

Has anyone ever had to deal with anything like this?
(i don't want to spend over $500 on this if at all possible)

would this mineral wool do the trick?

im considering buying the diy pieces and building my own panels to cover the window. i need to soundproof the window with it for drum tracking. it says the Sound Absorption Coefficients at 125hz is 0.99 if 4" thick. do you think that will do the trick? from what i understand of the coefficient scale that is almost 100% absorption.

the only way your going to cut down the punchy lows of drums is with mass and density .
Your going to have to find a way of attaching 2 or 3 layers of heavy chip board or MDF (really thick sheets) with out damaging the window frames and then perhaps a bed mattress on top of that !
Obviously a double glazed window would have reduced the amount of sound proofing you would have needed .
Its a fruitless task though ....even if those windows were bricked up you would still hear the drums out side .
Good luck .
