I'm after some Death Metal that is similar to bands like Behemoth, Morbid Angel & Noctiferia. Not blisteringly fast with tons of blast beats, more mid paced stuff with blasts thrown in to really liven things up a bit, cool solo's, good production and no "wallowing in pig shit" vocals.

Cheers.

Happy New Year and all that shite.

Demigod, early Therion and Massacra seem to fit your description. Although you're probably familiar with them already. Slumber of sullen eyes, Beyond Sanctorum and final Holocaust are three of the best DM albums ever.

I'd check out Brutality-Screams of Anguish, awsome songs, solos etc...

You will enjoy it.

James Murphy is working on songs for a second disk. It would have been out but James had the whole cancer recovery and stuff like that. He is much better now.

Monstrosity-Rise To Power(One of their guitarist Tony is touring with Morbid Angel right now)
1. The Exordium(mp3)
2. Awaiting Armageddon
3. Wave Of Annihilation
4. The Fall Of Eden
5. Chemical Reaction
6. A Casket For The Soul
7. Rise To Power
8. Visions Of Violence
9. From Wrath To Ruin
10. Abysmal Gods
11. Shadow Of Obliteration

Bloodbath definitely. Anything off Resurrection Through Carnage.

early Therion, Obituary(not sure if they've ever blasted, though), Fear Factory(SOANM-era stuff, it's like dance/death)

Yeah, i've got the new Monstrosity. yet to give it a real good listen though. Not too keen on Bloodbath myself, don't really hear whats so good about them. Everyone and their mother has heard of Fear Factory, anonymous.

If you like wicked tech DM you will like this stuff.

Capharnaum - Fractured mp3s.
Capharnaum - Ingrained
Capharnaum - Fractured

Capharnaum is:
Matt Heafy - Vocals (Trivium)
Mike Poggione - Bass (Monstrosity)

Well, actually, Bloodbath aren't THAT great. It's just that people are happy that someone's playing the old-school style again, and Akerfeldt's mighty pipes are on vocals, and that's always a plus. Straight-up death's not really my thing, so I can't comment further.

BTW, most people think Obsolete when they think FF. I was just making a recommendation.

Bloodbath is a good clone of the old stockholm bands. I'd buy the music of the old stockholm bands first. Dismember, God Macabre, Necrophobic, Entombed, Grave, Carnage, etc.

Necrophobic and God Macabre were the best of the lot; more atmospheric and less thrashy.

I also suggest Atheist-Unquestionable Presence, amazing jazzy early 90's death metal.
