ST. Anger got mine today!

No this is not an error, I got mine today a day early, thanks to a good connection. I haven't yet heard the whole disc, actually just skimmed through the DVD so far. It's heavier. The only complaints, Larz appears to be playing the drum parts on just about every song.
The bass player Robert looks like a real goon....:p

After wathcing the DVD, I feel that Robert's stage antics are a bit over the top for Metallica. He's prancing around like a goddamn monkey with arthritis & making faces like he's constipated or something...
And while it's nothing even compared to thrash it's heavier, louder & a step in the right direction. It's
a "good" disc. The only track that I can't stomach is "Invisible Kid." Doesn't wind my watch.
I'll be curious what you other guys have to say when you get the disc tomarrow....

All I've heard is the title track so far, and based on that, I don't want the disc today. On the basis of that song, I'm not even sure it's worth my time trying to download more crap like that. But I'll probably relent at some point and download it.

I can see your point. I'm just damn curious as to what they'd come up with.
I have no self control.:loco:

I got the CD myself today, too.

All I can say is that in my personal opinion is that St. Anger is the worst track, and the rest of the album is pretty good. I know I'm not allowed to like Metallica, but hey, it's not that bad.

And for some reason, a lot of the songs, sound better on the DVD. Especially 'My World'.

Here's what I think is important to consider....will they ever top KILL, LIGHTNING, or MASTER? NO! Have they topped LOAD and RELOAD, HELL YEAH! Definitely back to the slamming riffs. I agree with SWINE that Trujillo thinks he's GENE SIMMONS but without a costume which makes him look even more ridiculous. He acts like a freakin' komodo dragon which is fine until you're a.) over 18 years old and/or b.) you're not staggering and sweating your fat old ass through a verse of Dr. Love while squeezed into a costume you've got no business being in. But I digress....ST. ANGER is a hit with me. I'm happy with it and I got it for $11.99 at Best Buy so for a disc and a dvd that's a pretty good deal. Nice to see PUSHEAD doing some art with them again, too. Aside from Trujillo looking like a freak, my only complaint is that THERE ARE NO FREAKIN SOLOS?!?!?!?!? Where are the Kirk Hammett LEADS for the love of pete?!?!?! I play guitar myself, so therefore I appreciate a good riff...but I also miss the days where a guitarist wasn't afraid to "blow" a little....where is KIRK?!?!?!?
Oh well...I give it a 9 out of 10 overall. Would have been a 10 if Kirk played some solos....maybe the new Sober James wouldn't let him?!?!?

Terrible album that sounds like Monster Magnet demos!

That's the best you could come up with?!
Seriously, I don't hear anthing that remotely sounds like
Monster Magnet? I mean Monster Magnet has some eliments
of Black Sabbath & other 70's Rock to them. This NUMETALLICA
has a harder edge to it, though maybe too much of a change to the
"Purists" that are used to dinning on just " Kill 'Em, Ride & Puppets."
I hate to tell these guys & gals that it's close to 20 years since the release of Puppets, get over it...
I'm sure you'd be able to do a show revolving around their lives...
Something like "That 80's show."
I mean these are the same dudes that slam all the Rock bands of the 80's...
What they refer to as the Hair Bands.:p

If their songs a little better produced , i will dig it.

I had to buy the disc, although I already knew I wasn't going to like it very much. I mean, sure, there are some 'heavy' riffs and 2 or 3 of them I actually like, but the drums are crap. The lyrics are crap. The vocals are crap. Most of the riffs are crap (For me that is, this isn't YOUR opinion, it's mine). The lyrics I can understand, because the whole band contributed as a group for this album, but while I can reason why they suck, I won't compensate my tastes for it. I mean, look at the lyrics for Purify; they might as well rap it. There are certainly Nu Metal influences on the new disc, some more prevalent than others, and well, I don't like Nu Metal. However, I do enjoy The Unnamed Feeling and All Within My Hands, or at least parts of them. Those two tracks I could bare. And as for what sixxswine said before, he's absolutely right about the DVD. Nearly every song sounds better on the DVD, however, as we all seem to agree, Trujillo's energy doesn't fit into Metallica, although I don't really think it would be fair to knock his playing ability as a bassist. Not many play with their fingers nowadays. Of course now, someone like Steve DiGeorgio (Testament, Vintersorg, Death, Sadus, etc.) would blow him away, and he also uses his fingers, but that's besides the point. Shearly because of the fact that I got the disc and DVD for only $10.49, I give St. Anger a 3 out of 10, in my honest opinion, from a guy who was introduced into Metal by Metallica themselves with The Black Album. Of course, this is only my opinion, you must be the judge for yourself.

I like your honest review of the disc, dvd, drum sounds & new addition to the band. I like your articulate review even better because, you used other words other than "sell out", "sucks," ect.:p

i agree, its a good review, even though i disagree with the review lol. I happened to like the album, and the Black Album was my first Metallica album as well...though its a far cry from the early work or stuff coming from guys like Opeth, Shadows Fall, or Darkane i still enjoy listening to it.

AceRoccola you know your rocknrolla!
It's cool to disagree. I like it better when people
don't go out their way to start some kind of flame war over "an opinion."
