I had to buy the disc, although I already knew I wasn't going to like it very much. I mean, sure, there are some 'heavy' riffs and 2 or 3 of them I actually like, but the drums are crap. The lyrics are crap. The vocals are crap. Most of the riffs are crap (For me that is, this isn't YOUR opinion, it's mine). The lyrics I can understand, because the whole band contributed as a group for this album, but while I can reason why they suck, I won't compensate my tastes for it. I mean, look at the lyrics for Purify; they might as well rap it. There are certainly Nu Metal influences on the new disc, some more prevalent than others, and well, I don't like Nu Metal. However, I do enjoy The Unnamed Feeling and All Within My Hands, or at least parts of them. Those two tracks I could bare. And as for what sixxswine said before, he's absolutely right about the DVD. Nearly every song sounds better on the DVD, however, as we all seem to agree, Trujillo's energy doesn't fit into Metallica, although I don't really think it would be fair to knock his playing ability as a bassist. Not many play with their fingers nowadays. Of course now, someone like Steve DiGeorgio (Testament, Vintersorg, Death, Sadus, etc.) would blow him away, and he also uses his fingers, but that's besides the point. Shearly because of the fact that I got the disc and DVD for only $10.49, I give St. Anger a 3 out of 10, in my honest opinion, from a guy who was introduced into Metal by Metallica themselves with The Black Album. Of course, this is only my opinion, you must be the judge for yourself.
