Star Wars Episode 1

Dreamy, I LOVE them too, but lets face it, after the utter disgrace of these first 2, 3 isnt going to be any better, George obviously doesnt realise the actors are actually supposed to act, not stand there like placeholders for the special effects :(

exactly right spawny
futhermore all the fuckin technology their supposed to be using, and the 3d animation and the movement of the creatures etc, could sitll be alot better!

I agree weetbix about the actors thing. Personally I'd rather watch unknown actors than ones that you see as being "oh that's Tom Hanks" rather than "oh that's the character".

I think America makes the worst films nowadays. Australia, Britain and Europe are making much better ones.

What happened to the good old action movies like Beverly Hills Cop  Good acting, great script, hilarious dialogue, a great fun movie. All these new ones are just people with headsets on looking at computer screens in control rooms giving orders to people trying to get passed hi tech security things in stupid looking sets with really cold lighting and the occasional really bad attempt at a funny line. All the same and no character at all. They REALLY REALLY ANNOY ME!

yeah and cool theme music!!
*hums the Beverly Hills Cop theme*

The worst thing is, the actors he has are not bad actors (though I think Hayden Christianson is AWFUL, no matter how good he supposedly is in other movies, he f**king sucks in Star Wars so badly I cant believe they let some of the shots make the final cut, but anyway...)

George just doesnt are about the actual actors performance at all, he figures he can fix it afterwards with special effects and splicing/editing.

The reason it was so popular and such an enormous success was because of the build up to the films release. Pretty much everyone who enjoyed the first trilogy went to see the film not knowing whether it would be good or shit. Even though alot of those people may have thought it was shit (like Spawny for example), they still saw it in the theater and contributed to its success.

As for the film, I didn't think much of it at first, the the first few times I saw it. I didn't think it was shit, but didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the original trilogy and was a disappointment to fans everywhere....then along came Episode II. Episode II (IMO) was so good, that it can stand up against the original trilogy well, and even makes Episode I look better, as it puts the film in its place. I believe the purpose of Episode I was just to set the theme, the mood and the characters for the films to follow, so at the time it seemed quite crappy and disappointing, but in the overall scheme of things it will be more appreciated.

As for the effects, I agree that the use of models and puppets is underated today, as I think the original Yoda looked much better than the digital Yoda in the new films. Much more realistic. :)

I put on the Axel F theme video clip at a pub the other night haha. I was hoping they had "The Heat Is On" as well hehe, but they didn't.

They did have The Power Of Love from Back To The Future though so it was all good.

I agree Troops, most action movies these days are just plain aweful. The thing I hate the most about them is the over use of the wires and effects in fighting scenes, which we first saw in the likes of 'The Matrix'. Now, I like 'The Matrix', and the use of these wires and effects fitted the story line, as the characters were able to manipulate gravity and such, but when I see it in the fighting sequences in films like Charlies Angles, Romeo Must Die, Scooby Doo, M:I-2, ect, it is just plain ridiculous, and takes away from the film.

Actually looking at star wars as a whole the first episode isn't actually too bad.

Sure it's bright and cartoony, but if you bothered to watch all the movies in a row, I think you'll find that they'll start of bright and 4-6 are alot darker, it'll work well in contrast. If the third film is a shade darker. If it's over produced like numbers one and two it wont work. But if three is scaled down they'll work well as an entire series.
