Some limbless wheelchair-bound crackhead could be a voice actor if their voice was appealing enough, but that wasn't the point.

Everyone always wears the same clothes in Star Wars for the most part. In the books they describe some kind of bathing process in which you keep your clothes on so maybe that's whats going on.

Well all the novels released since the Disney takeover is officially canon, so it is a legit way to fill in many gaps and substories that simply can't be covered in the movies.

Furthermore, it definitely seems like elements of TFA were lifted or inspired by ideas from prior expanded universe novels, even if those novels aren't canon.

So which universe is correct then? Seems like tricky territory to not just create your own Star Wars like Lucas did and what the authors of those books did..

The ships on Jakku are an allusion to the battle of Jakku from the comic books which takes place after RotJ
