well this is turning into a interesting argument- as for the schooling argument- I think the whole system must be changed- from teachers to funding to curriculum etc. I dont necessarily think more funding is always needed- school systems waste a lot of money on administration. Maybe we should adopt the European schooling model- no sports- much more difficult curriculum- and the idea that soe childred who are not that bright should be allowed to go to apprentice like vocational schools much earlier than they can now.

Charity begins at home.......we are not the MOTHER of the world. The only thing that comes from South Africa that I know of is diamonds. Is that worth $$$$$$$$. I'm kind of torn about the war...because it seems in the "police action" day and age we do it half ass and drag it out way too long. We had the bastard in our gun sites in Desert Storm..and the president refused to give the word...for fear of the ever present politically correct perception problem. If that's just going to happen again..I don't know how behind it I am. If were going to go in there and kick ass and take names then fine..but with the media we have here in this country the general public knows way too much...therefore making it difficult to carry out such and act. Speed, I can't feel sorry for people that are warned about epidemics and care not to help themselves. Never meant to insult anyone except the person that calls our President a dumbass. I can't cry for underdeveloped nations. Why are they underdeveloped? Lack of enthusiasm? Maybe I am uneducated in that field, but I understand what it takes to run a business and a family. Lets take this into consideration, Take the Mexicans for example, or the Native Americans here, hell, at least they have the balls and incentive to do something about poverty ie, casino's and whatever else. Val, in my opinion, being the underdeveloped country they are, they probrably can't afford the prevention and treatment stuff. Reason IMO is that South Africa was governed by bad, racist people; there were a lot of riots if I remember correctly. they finally had their first free election...i forget when, but it wasn't that far ago. Anyways their economy sucks really bad and overpopulation isn't doin them any good. Africa has the misfortune of being a dump....like most of South America. People accually live on dump sites in South America. They build their homes and play there. The only job they can get is finding redeemable cans and cashing them in.

val hey I agree with you on the underdevloped African countries- subsaharan africas GDP has gone down the last 10 years, and if you take out South Africa- the entire subsaharan continent has the same GNP as Belgium- yes Belgium. What can you do , you give the fuckers money( the govs) , and they use it for some genocidal war or presidential palace- still they are people- and like 40% have aids- and I dont even think most of them know what a condom is- much less how to use it, nor culturally will they use them. It is a interesting dilemma.
