I just cant seem to wrap my mind around impedance issues....

I have a QSC USA 850 stereo power amp.

It is rated at 2 ohms, 4ohms and 8 ohms (per side) in the manual.

Will connecting my 16 ohm 4x12 to it cause a problem? Or will I just get less power?

What if I have a 16ohm on 1 side and a 8 ohm on the other? Is that going to harm it? I understand that if the volume knobs are equal the 8ohm cab would be louder...

I know I'll be ok going mono into either cab. But if I want to go stereo, will 16 ohm cabs work and is it ok to be mismatched?

I was thinking that would be ok, it will just drop the power to that cab yes?

Is it going to cause trouble with this solid state power amp to run 8ohm on one side and 16 on the other?

Actually an amp-tuner/-designer from nuremberg once wrote on the marshall-forum that it is absolutely okay to "mismatch" one step on tube-amps (lower into higher or the other way around doesn't matter).

With solid-state's, there should be no problem at all (as far as I know - feel free to google further).
