So what kind of stereo system do you use to listen to music?

Work: some 10 watt Sony boombox with Mega Bass! :D
Home: Playstation hooked up to a 10 year old Aiwa shelf system with a broken CD player.
Truck: Stock Toyota radio with 6 speakers. Sounds good enough to make me not want to invest in aftermarket stuff.

So many freaking times I have contemplated getting a full 5.1 home theatre setup to blow out my eardrums with Slayer, but then I just put my headphones on and it sounds good enough to me.

The reason I ask is because I was listening to Aborted - Goremageddon (review) on my buddy's Suburban sound system with 4 12" subs and a deafening amount of watts and it sounded pretty cool, he wants to drive by people freaking them out with it now. A bit overkill, but still cool.

Work: Nothing. :(
Car (work): Nothing. I still have Himinbjorg stuck in the goddam stereo. :(
Car (personal): 6-CD changer - I dunno what kind of system it is (it's a Lexus thingy).
Home - Dining Room: JVC stereo boombox sitting on dining table surrounded by lots of unreviewed or unheard CDs...yes, the dining table to the wife's dismay
Home - Bathroom: Sharper Image shower CD player. I can get a whole album in before even leaving for work each morning. It rules.
Home - Living Room: Daewoo DVD (yep, it's a Daewoo, hahaha) but I don't have 5.1 speaker system because I used to, and now I have a child and all we watch is fucking Telletubbies and Sesame Street.

work: whatever junk speakers are on my PC there.
car: stock Hyundai stereo, which I'll admit sounds pretty sweet.
home:
I listen to alot of stuff at my computer. I have a decent Altec Lansing speaker set running through the Audigy card.
My cd player broke and I never got a new one because I can just play cds on my dvd player which runs through my Sony receiver and Yamaha bookshelf speakers. Sounds pretty good.
In my bedroom I have a boombox that I rarely use.

A few years ago, I spent around $2000 on state of art component system. AIWA dual tape deck, Technics CD player, Yamaha Amp and JBL 200W speakers on spiked stands.

Today I have a Sony Walkman and an Aiwa music system (still unpacked from Thailand).

I prefer walkman's, because I enjoy 'getting' close to my music, to listen to all the nuances in the track.

I have a rather decent 80's receiver, record player & CD player, all by JVC, with a broken power button on the CD player and a Pioneer tape deck, also four speakers two of which were found in some dumpster or something.

Good question, wait a sec..

Golden Age.. I've yet to listen, are they good?

Woah, you've got the new one. I don't have that one yet.

Yes they are good - very good. Based on the way they've been evolving, think Pink Floyd meets Viking Astral black metal.

Work: Nothing
Car: Whatever the fuck comes standard in a Dodge Intrepid these days.
Home: Bedroom - Shitty Sanyo stereo. Sounds alright for most stuff at low volumes, crap for higher volumes, and horrible for anything without a clear production.
Computer room - Altec Lansing speakers that are surprisingly good for their size and price.

does anyone actually use REAL stereo systems anymore? you know, with components and big speakers? no boombox or compact system or dvd player BULLSHIT, seriously, FUCK all that shit

why do you all spend so much time and money buying and talking about music if you can't even listen to it properly?

Yes and no. I have ($150) Panasonic RP-HC300 headphones that I play through my 30 Gig iPod Video. The sound quality is superb. Like said earlier in this forum its about "getting close" to the music. As long as you have a full understanding of the music then your good. I also think that the minor sounds and charecteristics in the background are key. Opinions differ. Its all good. I dont hate people for liking Staind, but my opinion DEFFINATELY differs.

:kickass:
