Opeth's new albums...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Will you be doing any vocals/guitar/synth?

2. What are you doing different as far as production than Blackwater Park?

3. What's your opinion of their new material?

4. How much would you say they have influenced you to take a more metal oriented approach for Porcupine Tree?

*Cheers* - Orion

Steven's answers:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) Yes. No "synths" though - only organic keyboards - piano, fender rhodes and mellotron.

(2) For the metal album the same but better, but for the mellow album a lot more scope for textures and subtelties. No heavy guitars or death vocals. Loads of mellotron!

(3) !

(4) A little perhaps, but one of the reasons I came across Opeth was because I had already immersed myself in listening to and writing more in the metal style.

Mellotron? Opeth has never used that before, have they?

nope, but opeth has never done a traditional prog album before.

the second CD might as well be released under the Sorskogen name. i imagine that's what it'll be like.
