Stille Volk

@Ellestin: I only listened to one song (Orgasme Tellurique) off of the label site which was kinda odd. Parts of it reminded me of Orplid... Are the two bands comparable?

I can only base my answer on Orplid's "Nächtliche Jünger", since I haven't heard anything else from them.

So no, you can't really compare both acts. Orplid - on this album at least - play much more serene music I'd call very melodic neo-folk with bare song structures.

Stille Volk use a wide range of hand-crafted medieval instruments from their Pyrenean homeland, and their music is much more layered overall with an alternance of indeed weird/thick and more contemplative passages. The vocals are either spoken in a dynamic way matching the songs' pace or come in beautiful manly choirs.

While Orplid are very good but somehow clinging to very predictable techniques done 1000 times by Sol Invictus and the like, Stille Volk are an UFO of sorts among the dark acoustic music scene. Check them out if you can ;) (admittedly, maybe one should start with the first album "Hantaoma", which has the most accessible atmospheres and writing)
