I know that nothing has been said as to who the replacement for Tarja is, but let me relate a very strange happening. On Oct 10(2 weeks before the Helsinki show) Nicole Bogner left Visions of Atlantis for professional reasons. Then on the 22 of Oct Tarja is fired. VOA already has replaced Nicole with one Melissa Ferlaak from Minneapolis Minn. Very quick replacement wasn't it??? And where is Nicole, well according to interviews(after the show with VOA) with members of NIGHTWISH Nicole reminded TUOMAS of a younger TARJA and that at times it was freaky how she sounded like her, plus Nicole and Tuomas are good friends as she is with the entire band, and it is rumored on the VOA forum that Tuomas has already written some songs for her. So is Nicole Bogner the latest addition to NIGHTWISH or is this just misinformation to keep us guessing. If anyone has any insight or knowledge please share it.

In my opinion, this is good news if it turns out to be true. Having someone lined up to take Tarja's place shows that they were prepared to make the decision that they did and are already moving forward. Not to mention it would prevent a lot of anxiety and worthless speculation on the part of the fans. I've never really heard Visions of Atlantis but I'm sure she's a capable singer if Tuomas is so high on her. That is, if this turns out to be true, and right now I hope it does.

I just checked out VOA - I had never heard them before. Not bad! The guys voice takes some getting used to but her voice is quite awesome and I could see how she would be in the running for the Nightwish slot.

For me it's very hard to tell. Both of their voices are so buried in effects, that it's hard to hear what they really sound like.

IMHO, Never heard of VOA and their former singer. BUT IF she reminds Toumas of a "younger" Tarja, wouldn't he in essence be shooting himself in the foot... Considering all the issues Nightwish and Tarja had?

Good point, maybe i should have clarified that statement. "Her voice reminded him of a younger Tarja in tone and clarity, and strength, and quality.

Sorry Metal for the vagueness of the remark, i was having a Senior moment.

Not really since he said she changed from the person he once knew. Perhaps this new chick exhibits the qualities Tarja once represented?

Frankly, I'd be astounded if Tuomas and the rest didn't already have someone chosen for the spot, or at most, a short list of possibilities to pick from quickly.

Agreed... Holopainen said in his statement that he Nightwish had been gradually moving in this direction, and it was only after a long time and much consideration that they decided to remove Turunen. So it stands to reason that they're not going to start completely from scratch in looking for someone... they must have someone else in mind, or at least a few strong candidates.

I posted something about this earlier, but the forum reload ate it.

I have a promo CD here from a Finnish metal band called Tacere, and I noticed the female singer has pretty good operatic pipes. (Her name is listed only as "Helena" on the promo, it's just a cardboard slipcase promo.) Tuomas and co. might not have to look that far.....

We got the promo directly from the band just a week or two ago, and I have to think that Tuomas has already been in contact with their candidate(s) to replace Tarja, so I doubt it's her.....but I thought the timing was amazing -- I happened to be listening to the promo when I first read about Tarja's dismissal.

Melissa is an excellent vocalist! I own one CD from her previous Minneapolis band, Aesma Daeva - http://www.symphonicmetalband.com, and saw them live once. They were pretty big locally.

From the way he's talking in these new interviews, it doesn't seem like he has any idea as to a replacement. I really hope that that isn't the case. It makes no sense that he wouldn't have any strong candidates if he's known this was coming for the last year. I'm hoping he does and just isn't making any comment about it due to business reasons.

I'll bet that's exactly the case. Why tip your hand prematurely?

BTW, we're practically neighbors, if you're in Athens GA...I just moved to the bustling metropolis* of Auburn. :D

If you could and have the links could you please send them to me i would love to see what TUOMAS has to say after the fact.

By the way i was born and raised in the thriving big city of Lagrange Ga. and dated a girl from Staham(or however you spell it). so we were neighbors once upon a time.
