String gauge

Hey fellas, what string gauge you recommend for playing on D tuning?

I have 10-46 but the strings are dancing a bit....

so any suggestions?

Not that I know much of this stuff but in D, if 10-46 is too wobbly... try stepping it up very slightly? 11-48 if there is such a thing? I would recommend playing in C though... before I went to super djent omg lol tuning (not that I play 100% djent stuff), I was in C and it is very well balanced between br00talz and "normal" stuff in my opinion!

Im with the Erk. For D, i'd go a touch heavier, maybe 11's or 12's but nothing major. I guess its if you've got a lot of lead work to do really. If no leads are going on, the beefier the better.

I use 11-49 in D usually, works great for me on a 25.5" scale at least! Try 11-52 if you're on a 24.75" maybe?

.11s should be fine for D, I don´t really see the need of going heavier, might as well go down to C or B and slap in some .12s. Im not a fan of super heavy gauge strings on guitars, ironic given the fact that Im a bassist lol

10-46 in E is my standard reference for tension, as it feels perfect to me. As a result, I play 11-52's in D and it feels closest to me.

+1 to that. I can't even get my guitar to djent out when I've got higher gauge strings. It just chugs instead.

yeah seems like you have to sacrifice one for the other sometimes unfortunately...bah i think i have like a 52 tuned to a low G on my ibby bahaha sounds awesome as FUCKKKK.

So what then for D? 10 - 46 is too thin and dancing.

In drop D I'd go 10-52 or 11-52.
anything smaller then 52 on the bigger string gauges is retarded.
