Blue steel. I like both their acoustic and electric sound. I use .009-.042 for standart E and Eb tunning...If i ever tune down i will go for .011 or even .012 for those inflames songs...

It kinda sucks cause now I usually buy whatever has a 7-string verson or sometime I'll get 2 of what ever seems the cheapes. I didn't like the blue steels when I tried them, I guess warsofwinter you forgot to put "don't have a favorite"

im all about the d'addario-.013-.056
medium girl :P

my 3rd and 4th strings (on my acoustic) are buzzing so bad my guitar sounds like some alien weapon...bleh.
i need a new bridge among other things :(

I use Ernie Ball Power Slinky (Purple), .11-.48.

But out of those listed, Blue Steel = fuckin' A.

Everyone uses strings so thick...i love the thin and tight strings they are great for frenetic speed. Does anyone here tunes to standart E tuning? It seems like a lost art and something very weird among metal players.

i definately want to get some lighter strings next time. im not liking mediums. E is a great tuning! i just sometimes come out with super lame emo songs in E. well, i think i probably do that in just about any tuning :( haha.

my buzz got fixed today ;P

I use mostly standard E. That´s because I play Opeth.
Thin sets like .09-.42 or .09-46 are ideal, I think.

I didn't get it.. but I guess it was not very nice of you.. whatever.. u can't plz them all.. u just have to know every single string's name and position if u consider urself a guitarist.. THEY ARE ONLY 6!! .. so don't get pissed off... get to know :)

1st string: E
2nd string: B
3rd string: G .. blah blah..

I was JUST being sarcastic.. thought I would mention that.. just in case.. :P

PS: u can be happy now.. I won't post that much for about 3 weeks or something.. I just got home and I guess I'll have a lot of things to do.. c'ya all :)

Wars of Winter use's E tunning ,, anything else would just be insane ,,, when I think of E I think of a very clean and clear sound ,, which is true in most case's , it's easier to master sometimes and you can pick out the guitar parts unlike alot of c and d tunners ,, In Flames are perfect in C ,,, At the Gates are perfect in B ,, it just suites some bands ,, bands like us , which switch from moderately distorted to clean melodic picking riffs , have to tune to E or your wouldn't be able to pick it out or hear some of the key notes that make the riffs what they are ,,,, my other band however use's a weird tunning for the type of music we play ,, we use CGCFAD ,, and the songs sound like they are in E and are very clear ,, it really depends on the type of music you play ........ can you imagine At the Gates in E ,, hhahahah

Sometimes it may even depend on what guitar you use ,,, I play a Mocking Bird B.C Rich through a Peavey Bandit 112 and I love the sound of it in C or E ,, anything else is just not right ,,if you have the EQ'S set right you can sometimes find a very clear sound in low tunnings ,,and the right amount of volume change's the sound of the tunning greatly ,,,,,, the reason I like E so much is because I can hit the strings pretty damn hard before the guitar make's that weird slapping noise .
