suggest me strings gauge for drop C

actually i have elixir (.012 .016 .024w .032 .042 .052) and nothing strange with my .024w string.haha

what pack could i buy?

24w is a completely different string than 24p. Too thick to be a G string in that tuning IMO.

I don't think anybody makes a decent set for most tunings other than standard if I'm perfectly honest. Learn to use a tension calculator and make some custom sets based on a set you find ideal in standard and take it from there.

Or tune to standard or Eb like a real man and don't worry about it. :D

I'm using the D'Addario EXL117 11-56 set.

While I don't quite dig the 14 as a second string and the 19 as a third string it comes with, I think it's a pretty good set.

I'd prefer a 15 and a 20 as a 2nd and 3rd string, respectively, but the set is pretty good regardless.

:)

Again, what current gauge/tuning provides your ideal tension for strings? What strings in what tuning feels the best to you?

some time ago i used a set which i liked in drop D.
it was:
11 - 13 - 20w - 30 - 42 - 52

now, i don´t like it because for example, 6º string is too loose and vibrates too unpredictably...I have no control over it...

i suppose ideal would be 56 in 6º but, rest?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you trying to see if I approve of your gauge of choice, or are you trying to change tunings?

i suppose i can get the ernie ball -> .012 .016 .024p .032 .044 .056
and to change 24p for 24w. it would be similar to the gauge i used in drop D, correct?

hmm i guess i lost track somewhere.
i undesrstood i have to go for a heavier gauge (0.11 lets say) and get maybe an uneven or heavy bottom set with 0.56 for low "E", correct?

so what is the 0.24 , is it really twice the thickness of 0.12?? isnt it REALLY a lot? and what is the difference between P an W?

Guage numbers between brands differs a lot. Not even slinky 0.56 fells about the same as the 0.59 dimarzio in terms of tightness .
For drop C you cant go wrong with the not even slinky`s . The dimarzio 0.12-0.60 its ok too, but atleast with my hands , they last half the time in good shape in comparison to the Ernie Balls.

dimarzio = daddario Epic lol

The ernie ball brand strings always seem a little brighter than most string sets to me, and retain the brightness a little longer. I guess the bigger you go the less bright they are though. I was a strict D'addario buyer for many many years, over a decade but wanted to try a diff brand to see how much better or worse they were, EB seems pretty good. I dont think I've seen dimarzio strings at any local shops.

I play Drop C with a standard set of Ernie Ball .10's with no problem. Maybe I should start experimenting with "proper" strings for this tuning......

Yeah, that would be close, although a 24p is going to have way higher tension than 24w. I'd go 18 or 20w.

finally i bought the not even slinky 056 from EB changing the third string for 20p.
.012 .016 .020p .032 .044 .056

i´ll comment my opinion when I do the test.

thanks

in the local store those are almost twich the price of the ernieball, are they of higher quality?

By far.
DR's are WAY superior over any other string i have tried(They are hand made.).
You feel it as soon as you start playing on them, and if you switch back to "regular" strings you will hear the difference as well.

Personally i use the Tite-Fits though, they feel allot better to me.

@Jeff - I use .09-.42's in E, and on a 25.5 scale guitar... what gauge would you recommend for C standard and/or Drop B tuning? To me, .09's have always felt the best, so I want to try and keep that same "feel" tension wise, but just a lower tuning obviously.

Or does anyone else have any recommendations?

D'addario makes a pretty clutch 11-52 set; 11, 14, 18, 30, 42, 52. That should work out well with a really similar tension balance in C standard, maybe go for a 56 in drop B.
