A friend of mine has just given me two blank CDs and asked me to burn her a Maiden compilation. First I thought I'd just make her a copy of Best of the Beast, but there's been quite a bit of new material since then. I'm aiming for a fair representation of all thirteen studio albums, with most of the well-known songs and a few live tracks thrown in. Any ideas?

Wasted Years
The Evil That Men Do
Children Of The Damned
The Wicker Man
The Clansman
Fates Warning
Infinite Dreams
Phantom Of The Opera
Powerslave
Aces High
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Stranger In A Strange Land

All of those are going to be on there somewhere, except Fates Warning. I was thinking more along the lines of Tailgunner, Bring Your Daughter or Hooks In You. Can't forget Rime of the Ancient Mariner or Sign of the Cross either :).

Decisions, decisions...

I'd go with Best Of The Beast

minus
- Virus
- Sanctuary
- Strange World
- Iron Maiden

Plus
- The Wicker Man
- Rainmaker
- Wildest Dreams

That'd about cover it, I think. Maybe one more with Di'anno if you've got room.

Prowler
Remember Tomorrow
Wrathchild
Murders In The Rue Morgue
Children Of The Damned
The Number Of The Beast
Die With Your Boots On
Revelations
Aces High (live)
Powerslave (live)
Sea Of Madness
Infinate Dreams
The Evil That Men Do
Fates Warning
Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter
Afraid To Shoot Strangers
Childhoods End
The Aftermath
Como Estais Amigos
The Wickerman
The Thin Line Between Love And Hate
Rainmaker
Journey Man

Tears Of The Dragon

Why do people call "The Wicker Man" "The Wickerman"? I've asked this before without an adequate response. And it's "Journeyman", not "Journey Man". And "Infinite Dreams".

*eye twitches*

Here is what I would do:

Prowler
Remember Tomorrow
Transylvania
Purgatory
Drifter
Children Of The Damned
The Number Of The Beast
Revelations
The Trooper
Aces High
2 Minutes To Midnight
Powerslave
Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Wasted Years
De Ja Vu
Infinate Dreams
The Evil That Men Do
Fates Warning
Hooks In You
Be Quick Or Be Dead
Wasting Love
Fear Of The Dark
The Edge Of Darkness
2am
The Clansman
Como Estais Amigos
The Wicker Man
The Thin Line Between Love And Hate
Wildest Dreams
Rainmaker
Paschendale
Journeyman

32 songs, might fit on two discs. I think that's a good spread though.

Doesn't really matter what's on there, as long as their two best songs, 22 Acacia Avenue and Hooks in You, are featured prominently.

And the winners are:

DISC 1

Wildest Dreams
Rainmaker
The Wicker Man
Futureal
The Angel And The Gambler (single edit)
Sign of the Cross
Fear of The Dark (live Helsinki '92)
Be Quick or Be Dead
Tailgunner
Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter
Infinite Dreams (live Birmingham '88)
The Clairvoyant (live Donington '88)
Can I Play With Madness?
The Evil That Men Do
Wasted Years
Stranger In A Strange Land

DISC 2

Rime of the Ancient Mariner (live)
Aces High
Powerslave
Die With Your Boots On
The Trooper
Still Life
Number of The Beast
Run to the Hills
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Wrathchild
Killers
Prowler
Sanctuary
Phantom of the Opera

I'm listening back to it now to see if it came out okay, and it all sounds a bit distorted. I must have the settings up too high or summat .

You can get rid of these and you'll have plenty of room for some decent stuff:
