Swap out one band...

While certain bands trancend, for the most part, energy is relative to your fondness for the band, and the crowd's fondness for the band. I saw Kreator recently in Philly (with Dark One) and it was hardly what I'd consider an energetic show.

Again, point well taken. But You hit the nail on the head when you explored that more, namely the fact that the crowd and myself were very much into the band. I never did say they had the best stage presense, i said they had energy... big difference IMO. Though they may not have been running around like Dickenson or anything, they played with such conviction that I (as a big fan) couldn't help but be drawn in and just went mad. Great stuff. But again, not PP material.

Now who the fuck said Communic? Holy fuck, i would love to see them live. One of the best damn bands i've heard lately! Glenn NEEDS to bring Communic over!

I would say you are correct for the most part, but I really enjoyed Wuthering Heights even though I wasn't familiar with their stuff and the crowd was very ho-hum.

Hahaha, burnnnnn. I'm personally no fan of Therion either, but I'm really planning on their performance to convert me. So they'd better not screw up! :D

The good news there is, they'll have a few shows in the States before PP to get things seasoned just right, and then, since Earthlink is such a great venue, they should rule. :headbang:

I'd swap PC69 out for Wastefall or Arcturus. ....And Stratovarius for Ayreon or Green Carnation...as if THAT could ever happen. :)

Well Pellaz, I'm not a Strato fan either, but I relaized something...... if you make a truly "greatest hits" they have some really catchy shit the crowd will have fun with. They will end up being a "sing along" type band like Edguy and I will all but guarantee they will be fun to watch.

Sure...what other band could provide such great eating & shopping time? :loco:

Sure, you can go eat and shop during their performance. Suits me just fine. Meanwhile I will be front row center enjoying the best music of the weekend. :Spin:

Psychotic Walt Reunion (see... Dead Soul Tribe could be the actual band on the bill, and the PW Reunion could be a special gift, per se)

That would truly be amazing if that happened!

Stratovarius for any of these:

Alias Eye
Man On Fire
Sylvan
Ulver
Redemption
Zero Hour
Dredg
Riverside

Those are some good picks. I cannot begin to tell people how much I've enjoyed the Riverside cd - I'd love to see those guys at PP.

i think that works because none of those are as high status as Strato
While I'd prefer to see almost anyone over Strat, none of those bands are as big. Hell, I'd be surprised if combined they've sold as many concert tickets or CDs as Strat.

Good question... tough question... so I'll answer the "what if" with some form all slots even though I like just about everyone.

I'd probably pull Stride for Amaran

Stratovarius for Primal Fear (I like both bands but would rather see Primal Fear)

Conception (I have no albums, nor have I been able to find one so I don't know if I'll like them or not) for Sinergy

I wouldnt trade PC69 or Therion for anyone, and Manticora will blow the roof off Earthlink.

Glenn has never said as much, but I have to think that them playing BW & BK, earlier in the year, makes them a fairly unattractive option.

PRIMAL FEAR played BW&BK in 2004 so I dont think that would make much of an impact on having them in 2005 (15 months later)...and in my opinion they destroyed that place...just an awesome power metal performance! :hotjump:

You are correct Sir. My bad. I thought they played in 2005. And for the record, I'd trade Strat for Primal Fear is a heartbeat. I think they would go over HUUUUUGE at ProgPower.

thats true, but i thought the jist of this was "can't swap for a bigger band"... and none of em are bigger than strato... but they should be ;)

The jist was to swap "BAND A" for another band (and only 1 other band) of equal/similar stature (not genre), but definitely not "bigger" stature.

For example Stratovarius for Pain of Salvation would seem to be an equal switch, but no swapping Manticora for Iron Maiden or Conception for Vomit Snack or something.

I also put in a bunch of "wish list" bands as well, but to stay on topic, Glenn advised us to pick one band and one band only as a substitute.

Actually, kicking me in the nuts for five consecutive minutes would be equal to forcing me to sit through another PoS set. I have't heard that much whining since A&E's last Oprah marathon.

Question for Glenn:

Speaking of PoS, can we sponsor a band not being at PP? How much would it cost to make sure PoS doesn't play PPVII?:loco:
