SW's new video "Inner Enemy" has been released (#10)

Oh right, I should have probably made sure to replace them with full words, I did warn Aussies like to shorten everything! The spelling mistake on pave is straight up my bad though.

Seventh Wonder are great. They entertain you with their music and also make you struggle to decode their lyrics! :D

Pretty sure this is the lyric for here:

Not gonna fade beyond the road,
trying to fly, but you keep falling like angels to the ground,
you broke the world to its knees and forced us to rise.
to kill the long life that blinded your eyes.

Big fan of the Great Escape.... hoping for another epic long song on this new album. :)

Bob

Oh that sounds very plausible! I like it!

@the_long_bard: Ooh, those were just shortened! I wasn't sure - since English is just a foreign language to me, it confused me while listening to the song, so I had the urge to correct. :Spin:

I've had the song playing loudly through my headphones for the last 1.5 hours trying to sleep and I've also started hearing "broke the world" but didn't think it fits, but if I'm not the only one who's heard that now...

And yeah, maybe it's just Aus, but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who pronounces a hard G on a lot of words. Calling usually gets pronounced "callin" trying "tryin" etc. There's plenty of exceptions, and since I write how I talk, when I heard them sung in a simmilar fashion, one thing lead to another. But still should have thought to lengthen them.

"...you broke the world to its knees.."

I'm hearing "..You brought the world to its kees..." which would also make more sense, I guess.

By the way, it was quite obvious to me that you were shortening those words (calling, tryna).

Some strange commas here and there, but otherwise "very good job on the lyrics", the_long_bard! Thanks!

Well, I really like the video :) That doesn't happen often, so that's huge compliment coming from me. Also, poor Tommy doesn't seem to be so nervous like in the two Kamelot videos which is great.

And... What a song! I've had it on constant repeat since yesterday and I've listened to it, like, 100 times at least (this is no exaggeration) and it's not boring yet :) Just awesome...

Summarizing everyone's efforts we get something like...

For a man that never prayed upon salvation,
it's quiet when the world is breaking down.
But the neon light is calling, gotta search for one more fix
A rat race for a man made crown.

Please help me, help me somebody,
my heart is open wide.
Save me, and just maybe I'll survive.

You gotta get up and go,
Hey, tonight is the night,
I'm gonna face my inner enemy.
Get up because
Hey, this is your life,
and it's time to kill your inner enemy.

'Cause we are pushing through as flashing lights go by us,
Our good intentions pave the way for greed.
So we are running through an endless maze, a wicked society,
with smoke and mirrors, Extacy.

Please help me, help me somebody,
My heart is on the line,
Save me, and just maybe I'll survive.

You gotta get up and go,
Hey, tonight is the night,
I'm gonna face my inner enemy.
Get up because
Hey, this is your life,
And it's time to kill your inner enemy.

Not gonna fade beyond the road,
trying to fly, but you keep falling like angels to the ground.
You brought the world to its knees and forced us to rise,
to kill the long life that blinded your eyes.

Hey, tonight is the night,
I'm gonna face my inner enemy.
Get up because
Hey, this is your life,
And it's time to kill your inner enemy.

I'm gonna give myself one final chance to face my inner enemy.
Get up because, one too many have died,
and it's time to kill your inner enemy.

Yeah, as far as the commas go, I dropped outa school REALLY early. So I really only know how to use them as "Everytime there's a slight pause." It works for the most part with writing, but with lyrics it's just a bit insane. But thank you.

And "Brought the world to it's knees" seems like it fits more, but I haven't heard that yet.

Here are the official lyrics, received from Tommy himself!

"Inner Enemy" - Lyrics by Tommy Karevik and Andreas Blomqvist.

For a man that never prayed upon salvation
It’s quiet when the world is breaking down
But when the neon light is calling
Gotta search for one more fix
A rat race for a man-made crown

Please... Help me! Help me, somebody…
My heart is open wide!
Save me and just maybe I'll survive...

You gotta get up and go...
Hey!
Tonight is the night
And I'm gonna face my Inner Enemy!
Get up because
Hey!
This is your life
And it's time to kill your Inner Enemy…

Cause we are pushing through as flashing lights go by us
Our good intentions pave the way for greed
So we are running through an endless maze
A wicked society
With smoke and mirrors, ecstasy…

Please... Help me! Help me, somebody…
My heart is on the line!
Save me and just maybe I'll survive...

You gotta get up and go...
Hey!
Tonight is the night
And I'm gonna face my Inner Enemy!
Get up because
Hey!
This is your life
And it's time to kill your Inner Enemy…

Not gonna make it on your own
Trying to fly
But you keep falling like angels to the ground
You brought the world to its knees
And forced us to rise
To kill the limelight that blinded your eyes

Hey!
Tonight is the night
And I'm gonna face my Inner Enemy!
Get up because
Hey!
This your life
And it's time to kill your Inner Enemy…

I'm gonna give myself
One fighting chance
To face my inner enemy
Get up because
One too many have died
And it´s time to kill your inner enemy…

I really love the "joke":

ONE fighting chance
TO face my inner enemy
....
ONE TOO many have died

that kind of "countdown" is very cool

Excellent song! I love the heavier guitar tone. Have they mentioned whether they are going to release this song as a digital single on iTunes and whatnot?

@ orcslayr23 and everybody with the same question:
Andreas made a comment about this in one of his Facebook posts.
Here's what he said about the subject:

"About releasing the song - well, this has not really been sorted out and we currently have no means of releasing it.
It is intended to be on the upcoming album and whether it will be released in some shape or form prior to that I can't say right now."

I really don't want to piss anyone off, especially not the band, as they're such great musicians. Here's my 2cents...

Hmmm, still excellent musicianship, I really mean that.... but the song concept itself... this is a pop song made by (prog) metal guys. Compared to what they did before, I must say I'm a bit disappointed. More followers i.e. more success through more easily accessible song writing, is that what it's heading for?

Hey gronf,

I really don't think that that is what they're heading for....

True, "Inner Enemy" is poppy, but is was deliberately written that way. They know the song isn't like the stuff they normally write but "...I was convinced to let go for a change and just roll with it..." (Andreas B.).

I'm convinced the rest of the new album will be progmetal at its finest!
"Alley Cat", the single from 'The Great Escape', was a bit poppy as well, but it surely wasn't an omen for the the rest of the album.

Speaking to Stefan outside of the PPUSA venue after the marathon signing session he said that he knew Inner Enemy was the most commercial sounding song on the upcoming album. He said that it had all be demo'd and they were just waiting for the time to complete it with Tommy's schedule and such. I don't think we will be disappointed at all. I am sure it will be the prog metal with unique elements that SW always delivers.
