Ok so im gonna get me some Symphony X,can no longer ignore the reviews and adulation put on them,so can you guys give me your opinions of what are the best four or so Symphony X albums to purchase!! Cheers

Get these two first - DEFINITELY

The Odyssey has their best song, "The Odyssey".

For the album experience The Divine Wings of Tragedy is their best.

Then get the rest in this order...

V: The New Mythology Suite
Twilight in Olympus
The Damnation Game
Paradise Lost
Symphony X

I still need to check out Michael Romeo's solo album. I would highly recommend Jens Johansson's album "The Last Viking" which features Romeo on guitar. It's like Yngwie but without Yngwie! It even has Mark Boals on vocals.

I started with "Paradise Lost" and then got "The Divine Wings Of Tragedy" and "Twilight In Olympus". Plan to get "The Odyssey" next.

Am completely in love with this band and in my opinion "The Divine Wings Of Tragedy" is the best album out of the ones I have heard.

It really is hard to go wrong with any of their albums. I wouldn't say they all sound the same, there is a nice evolution through the years with their music, but loving one will more than likely have you loving them all. The only one I don't care much for personally is the debut self titled (different singer).

If you're on a budget, start with the newest Paradise Lost, grab the first Damnation Game, then grab one in the middle like Divine Wings or Twilight in Olympus. After you fall in love with those (happens quick beware!) then grab the rest.

I personally like Twilight in Olympus the best. I can't choose which one I like better out of Divine Wings of Tragedy and V though. Communion and the Oracle ftw

Ok thankyou guys for your opinions on Symphony X,it sounds like whatever material of theres a i can get will be good,i plan on raiding Metal Mayhem Melbourne(or JB HIFI if not available at MM)in two weeks from today, been saving for this trip for ages, gonna get as much Symphony X as possible, thanx:)
