System of a Down

Still they remain really overrated.

Could that be because they are one of the very few well know heavy (at least in comparison to what most people listen to) bands, and they are rather unique in their sound.

I thnk they're fine, would preffer having ot listen to them all day to having to listen to generic, mass produced pop stuff.

Almost, and because of companies' advertisment and promotion. The thing is that they are widely consided to be the best ("best metal band of our times..best new band, the future of hard sound, bla bla bla), and they obviously are not.

They are pop, in every aspect of their music. Nothing bad about it though. What makes them "Special" is the way they combine their influences and their smart (and sometimes genious) songwritting.

They may be pop, but they are (or at least weren't) neither mass prodused nor generic.

I agree that saying that they are the best of all metal is going way to far (they are vey different to, death, power, viking, and many ofther sub-genres). Would it be acceptable to say that they are the best pop metal around?

So, they're as bad as the "atractive" blonde+some songs about being upset about losing a boyfriend (or whatever)+truckloads of money?

Yes.

No.

I love them.

They are about the only nu-metal (I don't consider them as such, but I know many do) band I can stand.

If you like System, check out Nomeansno, another of my favorite bands (but way more "punk" - think DKs).

No, they're not metal, so we couldn't call them the best "pop metal" around.

Bad vocals, bad guitaring, plain annoying wannabe grindcore songwriting, rampant hypocrisy trendy fuck teh gubbmint stance.

Bad vocals,

That, at least, should be removed from that your list. THere are great differences between the sub-genres when it comes to vocals. In power, death vocals are (usually) extremely bad. In death, power vocals are (usually) extremely bad.
