System of a down?

A. I don't discriminate by genre. SOAD just blow. Mike doesnt tell me what to listen to, I've got NFU for that.
B. I listen to a lot of music that is different from Opeth and I know a lot of other people here do too. SOAD just blow.

I gave SOAD a proper chance. Didn't I already say I was a fan like 8 years ago? I also used to really like Weird Al.

Cant you just except that maybe people dont like that style of music a hell of alot. You must have gathered that by looking at what sort of bands people list as their favs.

Where did I say that I expected everyone to like SOAD? Please quote.

Stop preaching so much man, its getting annoying, soad dont deserve as much praise as you are giving them. period.

Look up the difference between preaching and discussing, its clear you dont know the difference. Even if I was preaching, what the hell are you doing in this thread if you find it annoying?

SOAD is by no means a bad band in my books. But id never listen to it.

Id say, give em a chance, I actually didnt really care about them when Chop Suey came out. I started listening to them a couple of years later. Note for some people: Notice how I am not saying "LISTEN TO SOAD OR DIE". Thank you.

lmao

The best thing about this band is the bassist. Not due to skill, but because he has the most awesome voice & coolest beard on the planet.

Ill agree on the beard, lol.

dunno, I guess I think SOAD is somewhat ok, a few songs or so I've digged, most of it bores me though I'd say, especially the newest material I've heard (have only heard the first of the 2 new albums, and only because a friend has it... I never really want to listen to them so I don't actively seek their music out)

Thats cool. The newer stuff is definitely different to their older stuff. But thats what I personally like about System.

To each their own.

To be honest i really think the 1st two albums are much better than the newer ones, especially their very 1st one. I got this one when it 1st came out and i did really get into it for awhile.

I quite enjoy System of a Down, actually. It would have been easy to disown the band once I started to appreciate things in the "tr00 metal" spectrum, but unlike some people, I refused to be brainwashed and continue to recognize SoaD's worth. They're pure, maniacal, crazy fun. The only downside to their music so far, I will have to admit, is "Lonely Day," the cliche ballad with terrible lyrics. (Not that System of a Down have ever really been known for excellent lyrics.) Cool guitar solo, though.

this has got to be the most worstest day of this forum's life

One of the first metal-type bands I had listened to. Really, they were teh brdige from my punk rock listenings to the metal world. From there, I somehow made it directly into Children of Bodom. Everything after that, well, it's been a great journey to come to where I stand today.

I hear them and I just think to myself "My, how uncreative." I just don't feel they challenge themselves or music in general at all. (I admit I liked them when I was a lot younger (and just getting into more "metal" music). I'm not gonna say theyre horrible or anything, as there are much worse mainstream bands but they really just aren't the least bit interesting to me.

Their latest two albums seem to be a lot worse than the previous stuff. I get the feeling that Mezmerize/Hypnotize should have been one album and that maybe someone should tell Daron when a track is just another tedious pop song. Maybe they should focus more on putting out a better record and less on rinsing peoples wallets.

I do quite like Toxicity sometimes.

SOAD are actually tr00er then most of those so-called tr00 metal bands, in that they couldn't care less about what music they make in regards to what their fans want to hear. They don't care wheter they are tr00 or not, and that is about as tr00 as you can get.

God I hate that word. But yeah, good post, man.

liking a band because they are tr00 is just as bad as liking soad's music

Ill agree that listening to a band just because they are tr00 is indeed pathetic.

you are the one who brought the whole issue up....

who the hell listens to music for the sake of "tr00ness" anyway?

plz stop saying tr00
