damn, that sounded great. good tone too. and guess what, i haven't even learned it yet. i'm still having trouble with that pulling off thing, but it's not like i've practiced it a lot.hehe.

Have you tried just picking it? Or maybe re-arrange the fingering so you don't have to slide and then pull off twice. If you were already in that position, it might be a bit easier. I'll see if I can come up with something else that's all in one.

yeah, i've tried picking it and i can do it like that. but it still doesn't sound as good as when it's in that legato style.

I'm trying to learn the CD version. The thing that makes Aleix's solos a bitch to learn is he puts in loads of things that are really simple but are extremely hard to play at high speeds and also to do 2 things at once. For example, he does a slide on the 19th fret, high E string but he gets a harmonic so it's super high and it sounds great but hard to get everytime.

Also, there's a whammy bar flutter on a note just before he does a descending 2 note per string pentatonic thing, that's the part that's giving me the most trouble.

I might record it at like 100 with a GP backing track or something later if I still haven't hit 128.

And just keep trying on the Hellion solo. Even if you cant get it perfectly at full speed, you could take it down a few notches and just put it up.

Yeah I get what you mean, it will have a different sound.

I can only suggest just practising it in pieces, like the 3 note pull off thing over and over until those 3 notes are clean. Then do the 3 notes before them and work on the slide, then work on joining it all up.

Erm, not really a huge fan of power metal but I do enjoy Dragonforce, Stratovarius, Rhapsody. I can't think of anymore obvious PM bands that I like.

Good tone??!!! That's the thing I dislike about most of em, I'm glad people actually seem to like it, I must be not too shabby at mixing/eq'ing.
