^He uses the minor scale a lot. Maybe also the harmonic minor scale, but i dont think uses that so much..
Thing is guys, it's not WHAT scales you use, it's HOW you use them. Anyone can use the minor and pentatonic scales but if used in two different ways will sound completely different.
in other words, it's all about the phrasing.
D||--------------------------------------------------|
A||--------------------------------------------------|
F||--13-------13-------13-------13-------13-------13-|
C||--------11----11h14----11h13-------11-------11----|
G||-----11-------------------------11-------11-------|

Oh god, even that's wrong!!
Code:D||--------------------------------------------------| A||--------------------------------------------------| F||--13-------13-------13-------13-------13-------13-| C||--------11----11h14----11h13-------11-------11----| G||-----11-------------------------11-------11-------| C||--------------------------------------------------| --------------------------------------------------| --------------------------------------------------| --16-------16-------16-------16-------16-------16-| --------14----14h18----14h16-------14-------14----| -----14-------------------------14-------14-------| --------------------------------------------------| --------------------------------------------------|| --------------------------------------------------|| --20-------20-------20-------20-------20-------20-|| --------18----18h21----18h20-------18-------18----|| -----18-------------------------18-------18-------|| --------------------------------------------------||
The trick is:
Barre the 11th fret with your 1st finger, fret the 13th fret on the G string with your 3rd finger.
The hammer on from 11 to 14 is done by hammering on with your 4th finger.
The hammer on from 11 to 13 is done by hammering on with your 2nd finger.
That pattern repeats for each position shift...so your 2nd & 4th fingers are the only ones moving, and 1st & 3rd stay fretted the whole time.
Just watch this video:

You can clearly see how Alexi plays it.
Btw. Alexi sometimes got a weird technique. I've watched a couple of TMR cover on youtube and nearly all - including me - are using the 3rd finger for hammer on AND fretting. So 3 and 4 are moving and 1 and 3 are fretting. I find it much easier this way. I've noticed it in other videos too where he's using his 2nd finger while I use or would use the 3rd finger instead

Thanks for the tips but this seems like the scale he uses most and what I've based a couple of my solos around (the first real solo section in my band's song "Derealization" uses an ascending phrasing of this kinda thing
D:-----------------------------------------17-19-20----------19-20-22-22b24-|
A:---------------------------------17-19-20----------19-20-22---------------|
F:-------------------------16-17-19-----------------------------------------|
G:-----------------16-17-19-------------------------------------------------|
C:---------15-17-19---------------------------------------------------------|
D:-15-17-19-----------------------------------------------------------------|
That would be the D minor scale.
