Testament Record Sales

Wow. And that's before Souls of Black (1990)! Good find. It also seems that Practice hit 450,000 earlier than in 1992.

Yeah. Atlantic is totally holding out on giving them their Gold records! Another I found was Under the Influence by Overkill sold over 300,000 worldwide as of 1997 and The Years of Decay sold over 2 million worldwide as of 1990s/2010 I'm sure not what year because it was posted in 2010 but almost all of his interviews are posted in the 2010s but the actual interviews were from the 1990s. Both of them are interviews btw.

Under the Influence: http://www.hardradio.com/hr3.html?http://www.hardradio.com/shockwaves/overkill1.php3

The Years of Decay: http://lesliesmetal-page.blogspot.com/2010/11/over-kill-bobby-gustafson.html?m=1

1. Wait, but that's actually a denial from the band member rather than a confirmation.

the interviewer: The album has sold 2 million copies worldwide, have you ever thought or counted on such a great success?
Bobby Gustafson: What album?? We never sold 2 million of anything. By itself or combined.

Bobby expressly states that they did NOT sell 2 millions of any album, or even all the albums combined! I wouldn't put that on Wikipedia, if I were you. They'll consider that a manipulation.

2. The 300,000 copies worldwide for UTI does sound probable. The 2 million for TYOD does not at all.

Could be. Or it could be that it came as a suprise to him that it sold that much. Not too sure

Nah, he seemed pretty convinced by adding: "by itself or otherwise". While in the band and after leaving it Bobby kept track with the record sales to make sure he gets his part of the royalities and not gets ripped off. You can't assume the interviewer knows better than the band member who gets direct info (especially given the fact that questions the interviewer asks aren't always the smartest ones). Plus, like we've discussed it earlier the number is improbable.

BTW, what's up with putting the chart info on Wikipedia (http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/testament/83241-testament-record-sales-7.html#post10558742)? Did you figure out how to do it (like I said, there's complete info with sources in my posts that I linked).

Well according to Bobby G himself he stopped paying attention to Overkill altogether after he left with the exception of Horrorscope to make sure they didn't use any of his songs on it. I don't think he paid attention to the sales either (unless he said he did and I missed it). Also if he does its possible that he didnt get updated on the sales numbers. They do only update them every so often, even if you have connections with people like Soundscan. I still say he was in shock not denying it. As for the Chart positions idk what to do lmao

What do you mean - you don't know how to upload them or you don't know what to upload and where? If the latter - I've provided precise guidelines in my posts with links to all the sources.

1. You just need to go to this post to see exactly what parts of the Wikipedia need to be updated: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/testament/83241-testament-record-sales-6.html#post10553911 (THIS IS A LINK TO MY POST).

2. And here you have all the source info that needs to be put there (with links, chart positions and etc.) http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/testament/83241-testament-record-sales-5.html#post10548557 (THIS IS A LINK TO MY POST).

3. So all that needs to be done is put the info described under item 2. into the places described under item 1.

What's up Necroshine95? Any luck getting the info out there on Wikipedia?

Also the guy I told u about is running numbers and said The Years of Decay sold over 178,000 copies in the U.S (assuming since 1989 because there's no way they sold 111,000 more copies in 13 years) and Overkill sold a total of over 12,850,000 worldwide as of the Soundscan era. He's doing Testament's totals as well as their first 5 albums sales individually as we speak.

Overkill's Sales

*Feel the Fire-20,000 in U.S
*Taking Over-39,000 in U.S
*Fuck You (EP)-6,000 in U.S
*Under the Influence-45,000 in U.S over 500,000 worldwide
The Years of Decay- 80,000(as of 2006) 178,000(counting pre-SoundScan) in U.S
Horrorscope-120,000 in U.S (as of 2010)
I Hear Black-73,000 in U.S
W.F.O.-48,000 in U.S
Wrecking Your Neck (Live)-23,000 in U.S
The Killing Kind-30,000 in U.S
Fuck You and Then Some-13,000 in U.S
From the Underground and Below-32,000 in U.S
Necroshine-26,000 in U.S
Coverkill-13,000 in U.S
Bloodletting-18,000 in U.S
Wrecking Everything (Live)-11,000 in U.S
Killbox13-16,000 in U.S
ReliXIV-16,000 in U.S (as of 2007)
Immortalis-2,800 first week in U.S
Ironbound-15,000 in first 2 or 3 months in U.S
The Electric Age-6,500 first week in U.S

*= doesn't count Sales before 1991
Also these are all as of 2006 except when noted otherwise

That's over 750,000 copies in America alone plus not even counting pre-Soundscan sales or sales in the past 7 years this is probably what a few of em look like now counting both of those factors:
Feel the Fire-50,000-60,000
Taking Over-100,000
Under the Influence-110,000
I Hear Black-80,000
W.F.O.-52,000 (not much of an increase for the last 2 I know lol)
ReliXIV-20,000
Immortalis-25,000-30,000
Ironbound-40,000-50,000
The Electric Age-30,000-40,000 (The last 2 were ALOT more out there in the metal media then Immortalis or ReliXIV)
So overall they probably topped 1 million in the U.S

I haven't gotten anything about Testament yet but this is probably what they look like:

The Legacy:430,000
The New Order: 520,000 GOLD
Practice What You Preach:700,000 GOLD
Souls of Black: 375,000
The Ritual:510,000 GOLD
Low: 130,000
Demonic: 100,000
The Gathering: 120,000
The Formation of Damnation: 120,000
Dark Roots of Earth: 65,000
