Interesting that Deicide is rarely mentioned. Apart from the dodgy Insinerate Hymn and very bad In Torment in Hell, they surely must rate up there. Consistently I think Malevolent Creation, Immolation, Vader produce solid death material that hasn't succumbed to too much over technicality. Thought I'd mention Autopsy, who had the dirtiest death metal sound ever in the 90's.
