Are the lyrics important to you??What do you feel about them??What are the best lyrics, in your opinion??Some people don't care about them and listen the song only for music......I think musicians are the current poets.

I'd like to add, that I think of every artist, so don't talk only about Hypocrisy;) but ofcourse say something about it, please.Thank you.

The lyrics are important to me, although not as much as the music. I especially like violent, angry, and gorey lyrics. I like the lyrics to Carved up and Buried a lot. I like them because they are different than the usual "I love you" or "I am so sad" lyrics.

few of my fav bits

"We are the plague spreading through the world"

"If there's another way you can live another day. Then you'll know just when pressure's getting stronger." -

"Don't tell me bury the pain, as I bury the knife in my body. Slowly slippin; away, to another dimension."

"You take your life and dwell in emptiness. Running away from the pain"

"I see no point of living the life I lead. It hurts me too much. Can you feel what I feel?"

"There's no end for your pain. Just as long as you fight it.
It is all just a game. To see how long you can take it."

"Slashing my arms, to let the blood free.
Soon to get away from the pain.
I have lost all my beliefs, to a world of hypocrisy.
Not afraid to die. Just an empty soul in cosmos"

"What's the point of being here, when this whole life is dragging me down? Is this how we'll be? I don't want to be part of it."

"I cannot cope with life. The truth you think you know so well, It's just a big lie."

"We are no one. We're just living to die."

"Is this the way that you and I have to live? A world of technology, there's no escape"

Since this is a (somewhat) Hypocrisy related thread, i'll spit out that the Eraser's choruses lyrics have a pretty deep meaning and the words just fit perfectly together,

in my opinion, but then, who wants to hear my opinion.

Sure lyrics is interesting and fascinating part of song that should be investigated on the same level with music.
Lyrics' sung represents by itself an instrument like guitars or drums.

Hm... Too many good phrases from all albums to post them here...

I hate lyrics, which are full of trashy pathos. This is the reason, why I don't listen to native to me (polish) bands, for example Coma...God, I hate this. In the lyrics is not important the pathos, it's not even important a main topic of song...the most important is an idea. For example, someone can sing about banannas, and it's quite interesting...someone can sing about so wide thread like death, but it is not trashy.I like Hypocrisy lyrics, sometimes Pain's, but the most I love Testament....never trashy, always in a god taste, even if they want to be primitive.

Not just your opinion, I think the lyrics to The Eraser are really really great and it's one of my favorite Hypocrisy songs because everything (Music and lyrics and vocals and production...) is really good!

Oh, and for other bands who I think have good lyrics, Nevermore has some amazing lyrics on Dreaming Neon Black and Enemies of Reality and good lyrics on TGE.

Seditious
Ok. I'll do it not to be a proofless.
Some of most touching:

"Butchered infants for my belief
They will take me to Hell"

"As my mind slips away,
I see no end for this misery,
The only truth is myself"

"Bury the pain
As I bury the knife in my body
Slowly Slippin' Away
To another dimension"

"It is time to put an end to this pain.
I wanna get away from this Hell!"

"The killing gives me all the pleasure
Just to see you fade away and turning to stone"

"I'll show you things that you would never believe
And then you will be mine"

"They don' t care what you're feeling
They only do what has to be done"

"My hate controls me and gives me strength!"

"How does it feel to be locked up in your own free world?"

"I'm not afraid to die!
But I'd rather die than someone controls my mind"

"A new era has begun, the world is falling
And Darkness triumphs, the Emperor has made his call"

"I hear the dead
It's calling my name, they say I am the one to be blamed
I see the dead
It tortoures my soul, I only did what I was told"

"Stabbing all my enemies, let them fuckers bleed
Hang'em high from the trees, feed'em full with energy"

Some of them are interesting from life's point of view. Some of them are nice from poetic point of view (the imposing of lyrics on music). But usually I mention the lyrics' beauty in a context of whole chorus or couplet. In my opinion three last albums are full of very interesting and instructive lyrics.

OMG, well....and what about less cruel lyrics? If you like lyrics like that, you shoul read Baudelaire, or Huysmans(my favourite when I was a little younger). Now I like lyrics like that:"Tomorrow will take us away, far from home, no one will never know what is....but the bard song will remain, it always remain". Maybe borring, or for eldery people, but after this all cruel reality I have so close (unfortunatelly), I prefer more and more...polite lyrics:p God, I'm old

Lyrics are a huge part of the music. Some of my favorites from Hypocrisy are:

I love this part...
"Gave up this body
For another realm
My body gets warm as I fill you with my cum
Squeeze the cold, pale body
as I fuck it

Murdered, buried, forgotten
Another life destroyed"

"Tie her down to the bed
Pillow on her face
Take out the knife and start to
carve"

"The time stopped
But nothing's forever
What comes after death?
It never ends
You release your blood and fade away"

"In the end, we will conquer.
What was once, our world.
We will take it back,
through the window of time."

"Shredding apart with the knife
Waiting for death
Cutting my veins wide open
Free from the lie
I am ripping it from my head
Living my life like the end is here
I can't take it

Tonight we are gonna pay
Suicide never felt so good
Dripping blood from my head
I'll never fail to die
Look and you'll know why

I'll recover and strike
I can't see the light
Lord, hallucinations appear
My omen, God, the angels of vindication"

All of the lyrics for Eraser are bad ass but as everyone said... the chorus.
"There is no time
No time to regret
The eraser's coming for your life
You got to run
Stay away from the light
The eraser's here to twist your mind"

And I fucking love this song...
"I'm floating in the air
Slowly fading away from the earth
I'm guessing to the never when on my way to my empty birth"

Always thought the way this was sung was fucking bad ass...
"You turn me on, you turn me off
Like I'm a fucking machine!
You tuck me in, you throw me out
Now all my thoughts are obscene!"

Off of Virus, as someone said, I like Warpath because of the Black Metal feel
"A new era has begun, the world is falling
And darkness triumphs, the emperor has made his call
And now the time has come for us to dread his warning
The terror will reign, death upon us all"

Fucking love it...
"I'm gonna walk away.
You wont be holding me back.
I'm not afraid of you
So just get out of my way.

I'll destroy your life
'cause you were pulling me down.
You reached the end of the road
So just get out of my way."

"So, I'm on a mission to heal the world for good." - Best said phrase from Peter

"I cannot hide my feelings, my feelings tell me more
A sickness I've been given, a sickness that's so pure
Come here and let me taste you,
Your blood that tastes so sweet
Reach out and seek forgiveness
You're my chainsaw-butchered whore"

Last from Hypo - "I crucify you for your disbelief."

I could go on with other bands as well. Lyrics give a feel of how the writers portrayed a feeling/thought/idea while hearing the music alone.

My band's lyrics deal with science and oblivion, we put huge detail into lyrics.
If you have time check them out, most people think they are cool, plus you can listen to a few songs from our cds.

Hey, man! I should mantion that "The Arrival" lyrics was written in co-authorship with D. Swano & Silenoz. "The Eraser" was written by whole trio and we don't know who exactly wrote chorus. And that fact that lyrics from this album is bad ass I see first time.

We have too much violence here in Russia... Maybe this is the way to show that already enough?

"Enough of conspiracy
'cause you cannot win.
Like a bomb I release my anger.
I'll be peeling your skin."

And we have too much violence in Poland. And I loved cruel lyrics, until something horrific happened to my friend. Now I even can't thinking about "peeling" someones skin, even he did something horrible to me.People are strange....they believe in such texts, they sometimes really believe in this. I just respect life.It sounds stupid, but now I can see nothing in these texts, terribly, fucking big nothing. Please, don't think I want to insuld you, and your taste.I just have enough death.I love this lyric:

So glad to see you well
Overcome and completely silent now
With heavens help
You cast your demons out
And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you off your cloud

But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about making your own mends
To the dead
To the dead

Recall the deeds as if they're all
Someone elses atrocious stories
Now you stand reborn before us all
So glad to see you well
And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you to the ground

But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about making your own mends
To the dead
To the dead

With your halo slipping down
Your halo's slipping
Your halo's slipping down
Your halo's slipping down
Your halo's slipping down
(But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about making your own mends)
Your halo's slipping down
(But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about making your own mends)
Your halo's slipping down
(But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about making your own mends)
Your halo's slipping down
(But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about making your own mends)
Your halo's slipping down
Your halo's slipping down to choke you now

I don't beleive in such lyrics at all.
But I don't forgive to my enemies and I'd like to see "stubbing all my enemies" and "peeling their skin" with great pleasure.
