The Clone Wars

I woke up with a hangover this morning after a long night and went and saw this with a friend... about 30 minutes into the movie I just fucking gave up. Started playing with my phone... as did most of the audience. Pointless release.

Yeah, I found myself thinking of the things I was gonna say to bash the movie on the forum  Pretty sad.

Star Wars universe needs to die.

Nope, only the people who have done the writing for the last 3 movies and this animated feature need to.

^But there is so much potential for great films found in the EU, they just don't care. Instead they meticulously plot out the most infantile, worthless bullshit and package it into a feature film. Why waste your time, you have so much to work with. It's like you inherit a large construction company with the ability to create whatever you desire and you build a fucking lopsided birdhouse.

EDIT: This is like, the first time Star Wars has EVER let me down, I'm in new territory here, I mean fuck sakes, I shouldn't walk out of the theatres going.. "Man that Ben Stiller flick pwned the new Star Wars movie".

Well, I think I'm little harsh. The universe is large, but whats coming out of it has just been crap. KOTOR 1 was a good example of the good (we're talking story wise, KOTOR 2 was good gameplay wise, but storywise, problems)... Everything else to have come out of it are examples of the bad.

You know who they should commission for a Star Wars film? Guilmero Del Toro. Shame he's going to busy with The Hobbit (which I may actually enjoy, unlike the LotR films, because it is quite known Guillermo Del Toro actually has a fucking imagination).

I have little hope left, to be honest. It seems like something genuinely ace is never going to happen. Games and canon lit aside, which as I said are not enough.

Huh. I just came back from it, and I thought it was actually really good. The action was pretty awesome. It was like one long battle, which rocks. It feels more like an extended pilot then a stand alone feature film which is fine because thats exactly what it is. Shitty dialogue was kept to a minimum, and when Asoku or whatever her name is wasn't talking she was kinda cool. My only complaints were a super flaming Zero the Hutt, characters who looked a little mechanical when they moved (not the droids), and some silly dialogue.

And the SW doesn't need to die, Lucas just has to stop making movies (he had little to do with this one, btw). Theres a shitload of awesome stuff coming out of the EU in the way of games, books, and comics

Shit I forgot to watch Stargate Continuum tonight... Am I missing anything though?

(Yeah I know this is the SW thread, but a little other Sci-Fi discussion doesn't hurt)

Jesus, you guys watch Stargate? :ill: I've seen the original movie, and it was one of the worst things I ever sat through. I saw an episode of SG: Atlantis once too and fucking hated it, only thing worse I could imagine is having to watch Firefly. I guess I just can't get into the characters.

i don't think lucas has to stop making movies, he just needs to stop having anything to do with casting or dialogue, the actions fine.

i've always wondered what would happen if the made another one and lucas did all the action where as the guys from Bioware or even Obsidian that did KOTOR did the dialogue and mabye some of the story...

I was gonna take a picture showing off the awesome pile of star wars comics I've obtained in the last 3 or 4 weeks but it turns out I'm too tipsy/lazy to get a good picture of it with the laptop camera. So you'll have to imagine a large pile of KOTOR, Dark Times, Legacy, and a Mara Jade TBP.
