The -core thread

If the thread starter could recommend me a couple of bands from each style to check out (no massive lists please) then I would be grateful. I'll start by checking out The End though I think I wasn't over-awed by the older stuff I've heard.

'Within Dividia' is miles beyond older stuff from The End (Transer Trachea...). They used to remind me of Ion Dissonance and all the tech bands, but on the new album their sound is more Today Is The Day influenced, like Crowpath and some of the other un-fucking-relenting bands that just punish you with their sheer ugliness. Only the best from Relapse.

Hmm... playlist...

Check out 'Tree Of No Return' from Tusk. Features members of Pelican, really diverse mix of grind/noise with BM and sludge. I've also constantly been listening to 'Simian Hybrid Prototype' from Bodies In The Gears Of The Apparatus. Probably the best new band I've heard in a while, they're releasing a split with Despised Icon on Relapse in 2005, which means they aren't too far from getting signed, which is fucking awesome. Check out both of those, beautiful stuff.

Hahahaha people are so ignorant and anal, it's un-fucking-believable.

Grind kicks your ass. Some hardcore and metalcore does, too.

Catchy, good riffs, cool vocals that fit the music and never get annoying, and pretty funny lyrics. A good aggressive band.

No accounting for taste... well, whatever stuffs your turkey. I won't touch anything with Seth's filthy name on it.

(EDIT: I did laugh when I heard 'X Marks The Spook' the other day. I'm ashamed.)

Meh, I find all of the genres that have Core as a suffix are rather boring and uninspired. I think the same about most BM and DM too, although I listen to a lot of both. But the cores are just deadly boring.
