The Devil You Know

fans, they described WM as their heaviest record ever, they could have told us that it's radio-friendly hard rock

They say that heaviest record ever shit before every album, I bet that's what they said about Volume 8 too :)

And for the record, Anthrax has always had hard rock songs like this. Remember Lone Justice?

I've heard two songs from the new album and so far none of them actually sond like Anthrax. Sounds to me like they are going for that poppy emo sound trying to be popular.

i ordered the Nuclear Blast mailorder-edition limited to 500 copies incl. a vinyl-single, it has the cover in 7" format, no need to buy an additional digipack on the release day, after hearing the new song it's ok for me when i get the album a week later. i also have the limited to 500 copies 7" edition of WCFYA, wanna buy it Johnnie?

No thanks, I have the digipack edition with The Ramones cover and Safe Home accoustic.

so TDT finally influenced the Anthrax-sound, congrats Scatty!

i wonder if there will be any real Thrash-songs on the album.

If there are there won't be many and that fucking sucks. Among The Living it is for another 6 years in hopes that Spitz will come back and they will stop writing radio songs and become a thrash metal band once again.

By the way The Damned Things are playing live near my home in a few weeks. I will certainly NOT be going to support Scat and Rob in that lame band.

Why is it that almost all the other bands that were out when Anthrax was in their prime like Testament, Exodus, Slayer, Etc are making brutally heavy thrash albums yet Anthrax is putting out radio rock? I just really don't fucking understand what happened to these guys, it really makes no sense other than they just have let the business dictate their musical direction. What a fucking shame

I was pretty underwhelmed on first listen, but after 4-5 real good listens now, am loving this tune. And that solo ...... superb. Great tune. As someone said (Scott?)..... AC/DC through an Anthrax filter. Captures it well.

Yeah im the same. Listened to it 4/5 times and now absolutly love it. Was the same with fight em as well. Joey sounds absolutly fantastic.

You clasify Fight Em Till You Can't as poppy emo sounding? WTF??

Sorry, but if that's your opinion, then I think you'll sit in the "there's just no pleasing you" category. If you don't think that tune sounds like Anthrax, then you must have them confused with some other band.

Seriously, if you hate this band so much. Quit posting here and ignore them. Nobody wants to read your same rehashed posts over and over again anyways.

That might be just because Anthrax never made brutally heavy thrash album. Even in the ATL era, mostly because of Joey, who has never been metal let alone thrash metal vocalist and couldn't and can't be compared to Tom Araya or Chuck Billy.

Just listen to it; Not bad at all!!! Sure it was written for a Bush style! It reminds me the B-sides things in Bushthrax, like "giving the horns"

For the guys who are waiting for a pure Thrash album, i want to say Anthrax make a comeback in Thrash very recently! Most of the songs was written before this time!

I think we can hear the two faces of Anthrax on WM, the "recent Bush style" :kickass: and the brand new "Back in Thrash" ( :kickass: too!)

All good for Me!

You can't judge an album off two songs.. Who says it won't be thrash?

I personallly love Fight Em! I think it is bad ass and stands up with Anthrax classics..

This song, not so much.. I'll give it a few more listens but it sounds kinda like generic radio rock.. Maybe that is what they were going for as a single.. It is still a little better than most of the crap today. It definately does remind me of Bushthrax which IMO isn't what I was hoping for..Who knows.. Still looking forward to the album..

Well, Anthrax's last thrash album IMO was "Among", and yet there were thrash songs on all of their albums. Don't get hung up on if it's "thrash", just worry about if it's "good"....and yet, some people won't bother. Sometimes, I just don't understand that. Bands can grow & change and still be good.
