The Devil You Know

Well, after 20 or 30 listenings of TDYK, I'm completely in love with....

Is it the B side of Fight'em??? Absolutely Anthraxesque!!! This song have all the elements to be an Hit, and is on the B-side!

It is an exemple of the poor business feeling of the band ? Or an exemple of "righteous mind" : "we have the power to issue an Hit, but we refrain!"?

Yes, it is the B side.

I'm The Man? (Except that this song is no joke.)

Was that Bush in the video or was it Eddie Vedder?

People can live in denial all they want. But Anthrax tried to have a more modern 'grunge' image at that point in time. In many old videos John Bush looked like Eddie Vedder. Scat would wear some baggy pants and look like a puppet. They completely had an identity crisis. They tried to change their music and overall look to try and fit in with what was cool at the time instead of just continuing to put out quality Thrash Metal albums and letting the scene come back to them. They were playing to 200-300 people a night so their plan didn't work.

I really hate it when bands try to follow trends instead of just doing what they do best. Anthrax really isn't all that relevant anymore. Sure they are part of the big 4 as an opener as when they were a Thrash Metal band they were one of the best. They certainly didn't get on the big 4 because of anything during the Bush years. They could have stopped being a band during the Bush years and would have still gotten on the big 4 because of the success they had as a great Thrash Metal band.

And back to the topic. This new song is a Damned Things cover I am certain of it. Generic heavy blues rock with a pop chorus and pop production

Yeah, we know. "I'm the Man" was so THRASH it sold more than anything else they EVER did. And Anthrax was always behind in sales to the other 3. My god, I listened to "Belly" the other day---and say what you want---but it's NOT thrash. It's metal sure, but not fast like A.I.R. or Gung Ho. Anthrax changed. Metallica changed. Megadeth changed. I think only Slayer stayed true to thrash. But WHO CARES? Listening to "Random Acts" and I can honestly say, I don't think they did anything much heavier in the Joey era. IMF09, I think you will be disappointed in this album. Joey's back, but I doubt if they are gonna play "Thrash" as much as you want.

why the hell would they take it off youtube, get with the fucking times anthrax,u guys are fucking hopeless sometimes, remember scott requesting they take clips of nelson back when he was in band, the internet is hear scott!!!!

ps ive no doubt that its on torrents by now anyways

I'm a die hard thrasher and (old school) hardcore fan, all i can say is That both new tracks classify as pretty classic sounding anthrax. Propably not among revisited but ftyc is their most thrashy track in ages....

Of course it's also Joey 's Voice That makes it sound more classic, but te definately proved everybody who claimed he could't sing anymore wrong. i don't mind some modern influences in the anthrax sound as long as it stay within limits. As for now i am confident the new disc Will be strong.
