The differences between Metal & Rock music

Ok, when I started drumming I listened to all the classics and learned to play them (My first band was CCR!!). I eventually moved into Styx for a little bit. After that, Jethro Tull was the stuff to play, then Kansas. Then I got into Rush. Then Christmas '98 I was introduced to Liquid Tension. Then I heard Dream Theater after that because I thought Portnoy was the greatest. Then Sym X, and well, here I am! Wow, I just realized that I have, in the past eight years, exponentially grown into liking more progressive music! Cool. Everything up to my Liquid Tension experience I consider rock. I guess I associate all the classics (obviously including Zeppelin, the Who, etc.) as rock. Basically, what I am trying to get to is the fact that every person's idea of metal and rock will be different because it evolves and develops throughout the years. :Smug:

its really not something you can describe. You pretty much hear a song and say "hey thats metal" or "hey, thats rockin"

Janick isn't metal....he's a fool....if he was metal he would have realised he, like Blaze, were bringing Maiden's name into disrepute and quit.
As long as Adrian had/has a non strat shaped guitar he is 'of metal'.
