There are coming masses of those "get your faked diploma" spams coming in lately to my email inbox, they started coming in on september 15th with the same phone number on each so it is from the same people and It's most likely a very expensive phonenumber that is attached to them... But there is something really puzzling to me about this subject, here is a quote from one of the spam mail:

Is your lack of a degree holding you back from career advancement? Are you having difficulty finding employment in your field of interest because you don’t have the paper to back it up – even though you are qualified?

I can understand like fake rolexes and cheapo viagra and shit, but a faked degree? As I don't know for real what is the situation in the USA, but could someone please tell my why would someone want a faked diploma? I mean a Bachelors, Masters and PhD diplomas usually is a show that you know atleast the basics or even mastery of some subject and in fields some fields like AE the diploma really is just a piece of toilet paper; your skills matter more, except maybe for something like broadcasting companies. If you are qualified, then you usually even have some sort of CV with work experience to back you up.

Well, if you're an AE chances are you're freelancing or having your own business. You're offering a service and people will enquire about this service. They choose you based on your portfolio. It's not an employer/employee situation (if you're not hired at a certain studio).

But with many jobs that are based on a employer/employee situation, you just need a certain degree to get invited to an interview. Now you are enquiring.

You're experience might make the difference getting or not getting that job in the end but in some fields it's almost impossible to even get a foot in the door if you're not having a certain degree.

People look at degrees very frequently as a sign of persistence and dedication... lots of employers treat people holding bullshit degrees higher than people holding no degrees for no good reason. The mentality is that everyone *has* to have a degree in something, no matter how pointless, inappropriate, and idiotic it may be.
