What amps/cabs/mic's did they use on Life time supply of guilt????Those palm muted triplets are rediculous!

Love that band....too bad they broke up! They also were Gates of Istar (another killer band)

I love that band.
All I know is they use Engl on some of their recording blog videos (for The Dying Wonders of the World) so it wouldn't surprise me if they stuck with it.
Prolly a Savage?
And yes the band rules. "Source" is one of my all time favourite albums. The vocals on it are just sick!

they also said in their diaries that they were borrowed from the dude who did all the solos on that cd. i personally think that entire cd is disgusting. everything is just nasty. a bad kind if nasty. and i agree with charlie, source is awesome.

Yea i dont like the tone on the Dying wonders....Im talking about the Lifetime supply of guilt....thats their best tone imo....Source is killer to....but LTSOG is just so agressive to me...

This is funny, I've been listening to The Duskfall non-stop lately. I am also planning on recording a cover of "Source". I didn't know too many people knew them :)

Production on TDWOTW is quite horrible. I remember watching the videos of drums where there is this part with blast beats and chinas which really kicked ass and when I listened to the album with a friend we couldn't spot that part. After a lot of listens we realized it was reaaaaaaally buried by the shitty production. I don't know what they did with that...

Anyway, I am also interested in finding out what they used for guitars in all the first 3 albums

yeah i loved that blast part. i was quite pumped for that cd, and was horribly let down. and by the way, i started a tab for source on tabit, if you need help, i got some of it down. its very easy though, im sure you got it. ha

Oh, yeah, I was making a tab too. I've made some tabs of The Duskfall too, they are all on ultimate-gutiar :D

Yep, it's a shame they broke up. The Duskfall was one of the few melodic death metal acts that I actually enjoyed.

Post links man!

Ive been listening to them for a long while now....even when they used to be Gates of Ishtar.

all the ones tabbed by "Dexter_prog" are mine

What I loved most about The Duskfall is that break-your-face sound they had (it was even further than an in-your-face sound) and all that vibe their music has. I think it's the perfect music to make catharsis :p

Anyway, most of The Duskfall's members are now in Helltrain, a death 'n' roll band. It's quite good and catchy, yet kind of monotonous. I hope them joining the band will bring more variety and the aggressiveness The D. had

I can recommend 2 melodic death metal bands that DON'T sound like The Duskfall but are quite aggressive and unique too:
- Chastisement
- Pathogen (the one from Australia)

(both have split-up as well)

the guitarists went to a band called Hell train.....look em up. Kinda have the same singer too....but some of their songs are punk with metal amps...lol

I love Helltrain! I visit their myspace regularly to get my weekly dose. I hope to order their albums soon. The songs "My Little Star" and "Helltrain" are so damn catchy!
Mikael recently became a permanent member so it's basically The Duskfall with a different singer and different second guitarist - who happens to write similarly to Mikael - so I can't wait to hear what they produce together.

No Engl on LTSOG. TDWOTW was Engl Savage though.

A few years ago I saw some pics of the recording @ Dug Out Studios and I saw a 5150 (usual Bergstrand's amp), Randall Warhead X2, and also a Boogie Rectifier if I remember well but I'm not sure about this one.

I think I got something similar to the "Source" tone: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1643345/guidance.mp3

Excuse the crappy playing, I was just trying the tone and din't quite remember the song :p

That's just 1 track.

That's my favourite song on that album. If you do decide to cover it I would be willing to take a stab at the vocals.

Also, don't forget the galloping palm mutes from the intro riff are still on that pre-chorus riff.

Edit: btw I would love to make a misheard lyrics video for that song! If anyone is good at doing that I could provide the lyrics :D

I am actually planning on recording a "Source" (song) cover and record everything myself (vocals included), but I can also send you the tracks for you to record your vocals if you want me to do so.
