I have been bothering people about this on the IRC channel a little bit, but I figured that I should make a post here, considering that I haven't gotten any results: Has anyone here ordered any CDs from The End Records? I was looking at
their site and I noticed that their prices are really low and there is no shipping to the US. Is there a catch? This deal seems to good to be true. Any comments on their service, positive or negative, would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

I've ordered 3 times thus far from The End Records mailorder. Each time was for somewhere between 6-8 CDs, all for approximately $11-$13 each. The no shipping kicks absolute ass, btw, has anyone mentioned that yet? ;). Each time, I was email-confirmed within 15 minutes, then again when the order shipped (never more than 2 days apart). Each time it took exactly 48 hours to receive my CDs, and they were in perfect condition. It doesn't get much better than The End.

HOWEVER, if I may point out anything at all that's negative, their selection isn't even 1/3 of a place like www.centurymedia.com or www.vvinyl.com. So, smaller but extremely reliable and priced great.

I think that's just for the label though, right?

that label seems to specialize in really weird stuff......

theend is very much avant-garde, but there's some really cool stuff.

and yeah, i order from Omega all the time. i just got the aspera hiems symfonia reissue for $12

damn, time to spend a lot of money at The End! :D

Beware of Century Media, only order if you wish to get your item in 4 months :p

The owner is constantly spamming the forums using chea tricks to get you into buying cd ( like saying giving money to him will save UM even knowing he is in no fucking way related to the administration of the place and if he does make donations are just that and no one can force him to donate if he wishes to stop ) and agree's with everything RIAA says about the mp3 and the piracy and would probably be angry at mr. Sundin cause he encouraged people to use the alredy avaible mp3 of his band ( after the whole security on the gallery/minds I thing )

So whats the price? A guy who is not capable of having any disagreement with capitalism and cares about nothing but getting his own fucking self some sales.

i don't know what he owns, but i would call his beaviour concerning advertisement "misleading". he really sounds like a salesman even when posting on boards such as these. as much as i believe in the profit motive, i think one should draw a line to avoid occupying all room available for discussion with shameless promotion. :)

...and as far as "misleading" goes, might i say a word on misanthrope's comments? i think that posting something with such a negative attitude towards someone because you don't like the way they advertise is a bit sterile. novemberfrost wanted to know whether he could trust the end records as a distributor of music, not how they fared in politics or marketing. with your mail, you might discourage people veering on the ideological from buying cds from the end: all in all, it's sort of a boycott. now, i am in no way related to this label, i live thousands of miles away from where they operate, but isn't it silly to try to shed negative light on someone who is selling albums cheaply and delivering them fast? one thing is the "not enough variety" point, that's informative for the prospective customer, but the ad argument... well, it reminds me so much of the sell-out debates in the punk scene.
just my two cents, obviously.

@hyena: you missed on a thread on the opeth board where the guy they're talking about (provided it's the same person, and i'm not sure yet) advertised his products in what i'd call a misleading and invasive way. this is the episode (i guess) misanthrope is referring to. as far as i'm concerned, you're perfectly right about the efficiency and qualities of a distributor having nothing to do with advertising skills or manners. on the other hand, in the light of previous events, misanthrope's comments were sort of informative too, and not completely off-topic. as for the boycott, imo we're still safely in the realm of expressing one's opinion. although you - correctly, in my view - differentiate commenting on the attitude and commenting on the service, it could be boycott for the same reasons if i were to say their prices are too high or something. in both cases you're saying something negative and debatable. of course i'm not taking into account misanthrope's remarks about capitalism or the man's intentions (which i can't possibly know).

First of all i dont see what is wrong with pointing out that extreme obsene advertising is the price you pay for good records, and further more i dont see what is wrong with posting a related comment in a discussion board.

The rest of your post is completly pointless, any mindless idiot would realize that my opinion on their marketing techniques does not gets in the way at all on the cuality of their service. There is no "boycott" here, if anyone is stupid enough to consider my negative comments about unrelated things when buying from them then they need professional help.
