The grind thread

They're good. Seen them live a few times. I generally prefer my grind with a bass player though.

As long as it's nasty I don't give a fuck what instruments are involved. Realistically what would a bass have changed about their sound?

And yeah Rort are killer, I miss the fuck out of them. Fil their vocalist is also in Headless Death who massively crush, heard them? One of my favourites lately.

More bass, thicker sound ;) The one guitar/no bass grind band sound is definitely a thing and I don’t hate it if it’s done well. Pissbolt are an example of a local no bass grind act that I really like, their guitarist has a fucking monstrous tone live.

That Headless Death rules, hadn’t heard it before. I’ve seen the vocalist from Rort in another band since they split but it wasn’t them, it was another bassless grind band.

Just looked up a couple of live vids of Headless Death and the vocalist from Rort mustn’t be in the band anymore, just three piece with guitarist vocalising.

Yeah for sure but sometimes bass softens the overall tone of a band and I think Headless Death are one of those bands that benefit from a more slicing and dry sound. Nekro Drunkz for example benefit from that shit.

That's how I feel anyways, for all I know they'd sound even better with some wiggly bass work so fuck it.

I feel like I know these guys but maybe not. Either way this is fucking good shit, cheers.

Headless Death have a bass player as far as I can see. But yeah I’m pretty much basing my opinion off seeing these bands live rather than recorded. Most grind bands without bass sound empty as hell live.

They’ve been around for about ten years so you probably would’ve heard of them.

So here's another long rambling grindcore post that nobody will read or give a shit about hehe. This time I'm going to touch on the Colombian grind scene, inspired by morguelord's Colombian brutal death metal list on RYM that I recently went through.

Going to get weird right out of the fucking gate!

Cuentos de los Hermanos Grind:

"Cuentos de los Hermanos Grind translates to "Stories of the Brothers Grind"; a parody of the Brothers Grimm."

I'm much more familiar with their second album (see; second link) because for ages their debut was hard to find (now it seems to be everywhere on Youtube which is cool) and the best way I could describe these guys is that they sound like they should be on Razorback Records, they have that classick fun-sounding goreground vibe kinda like Blood Freak but less psychedelic (if that's the right way to describe the weird shit Blood Freak adds to their grind).

Only downside is Cuentos de los Hermanos Grind have all these cool themes and stories but I don't understand any of it lmao. You kinda know what kind of madness you're getting into when their band photos look like this:

Elbow Drop:

This is one of those special bands (and I mean that both ways) that gets my dick raging hard, I love spastic overly humorous grind bands with non-metal parody songs and weirdo vocal styles mixed throughout the CD. This one switches up between goregrind, slicing deathgrind, dry classic grindcore, shrieking noisecore and everything inbetween. FOR ME this is the holy grail of Colombian grindcore and in my head the spiritual sequel to Endwarfment's The Paralympik Sessions CD which came out a year prior in Norway.

This morning the first thing I did was throw this CD on before my morning piss and then breakfast. It's that essential and I'm always trying to keep the Elbow Drop spirit alive, might even make a fan Fecesbook page lol.

Holy Shit B.S.E.:

"B.S.E stands for Brutal Sexual Execution."

Ultra-ultra-sleazy deathgrind with a totally classick sound that should appeal to anybody into bands like Dead Infection, Impetigo, Haemorrhage, Rot, Agathocles, Blood, Mortician, Cock and Ball Torture etc. Aside from Elbow Drop these guys are the pinnacle of Colombian grindcore and their second album which came out in 2017 wayyy after their debut came out is actually kinda EVEN BETTER than their debut. Has some real GROOVE to it, kinda like Dead.

Purulent:

This band was just insane, especially the lyrical themes which are just straight up heinous lmfao! Not a straight up grind band by any means, definitely way more on the brutal death metal side of things, but there's some goregrind mixed in there as well. The vocals are pretty nuts, but yeah I bet these guys were despised in their local community by all the parents hahaha!

Just look at this shit:

I'm not a huge Grinder but I usually like the unusual grindcore bands.

I'm in the mood for a philosophical discussion on the premise of American grind vs English grind.

Cropsy Maniac return to Horror Pain Gore Death Productions with the single "Brainscan", off of their forthcoming EP 'Carnage'! This is gory, raw, blood drenched Deathgrind featuring members/ex-members of Blood Freak, Akatharta, Wombbath and Henry Kane. For fans of Haemorrhage, General Surgery, Exhumed, Frightmare, Impetigo, Mortician and Gruesome Stuff Relish:

Can't wait for the new Gut album, they've been teasing with every step of the recording process on Fecesbook and I think they just finished up all the vocals. Mostly I'm curious how it will sound since Gut have radically changed their style with every new release. Will it be the sleazy death/pornogrind of Odour of Torture or the cybergrind/rap of The Cumback? Something new altogether? I'm hyped.

Damn, I didn’t even realize they were still active. I’ll definitely be checking that out.

Probably shouldn’t be posting this but this is my friend who went into hiding. Real shame since he’s actually pretty passionate about playing this style of music.

“My vocalist is lame and stayed at home to do homework.”

I wonder if he’s talking about Connor Betts lol.

Even though I thought Menstrual Munchies were pretty crap, it's still very shitty this dude had to go into hiding because he was in a band with the wrong guy. How "in hiding" is he? Heard from him? What's going on? Surely he's not in trouble right, he's just hiding from the outrage mob that is the public?

Anyways just stumbled across a sweet new demo from a killer Canadian deathgrind band. Art says it all... sloppy!

He deleted his Facebook, shut down the Menstrual Munchies bandcamp page, and his closest friends have hardly heard from him since the shooting. He’s not in any legal trouble to my knowledge but he was the closest with Connor and he’s been receiving death threats.

Interesting choice, from the studio vlogs they've been sharing I'm getting the feeling this album will be some kinda mixture of porno/goregrind and black/death/war metal.
