So I was googling "gothenburg metal" and somehow ended up here.

I'm not done reading it yet, but it's pretty interesting. I think it goes all the way until Nu- Metal, so none of today's "metalcore" bands are covered. And I don't think I saw opeth in there either. But the essay is an interesting read

you found find many people who look upon that site (anus) favorably here, seeing as its webmaster and presumably author of that article detests opeth. personally i'll take him over most opeth fans any day, atlhough i can hardly say i agree with everything he says.

I can't speak for everyone, but I can say a lot of it is just in presentation. I mean, can they use more obtuse adjectives in their reviews? A lot of it comes off as pretentious and dense just for the sake of sounding smart. I just like to read CD reviews without having to have a doctorate.
