So I am pretty sick because (I assume) of an abscesses tooth and decided I want to complain and discuss the nasty, gross bits of existing. Are you sick? Wanna talk about your cold or oozing infection? Please, feel free to disgust and complain here.

About my tooth: it's been bad for a long while, but recently the pain has been awful. Also, it's formed an abscess on the gum a few times. I'm seeing a dentist tomorrow but have put it off due to my lack of insurance. My teeth are superficially fine. 10 years of meth and coke use (I'm quite past all that) have my teeth in a sad way deep down. I'm sure the infection is eating my insides away and I feel just not good. Not good at all.

Yeah I've been sick the past 3 weeks, coughing up phlegm and nose draining down my throat. That's finally getting better. But I injured my back in a moshpit and that's still painful. It hurts to pretty much do anything for the past 10 days. I've just been staying home laying in bed or sitting in a computer chair. No insurance either so I'm really putting off going to the doctor. I think it's probably a cracked rib. The thought of paying for a doctor's visit+x-rays+medication without insurance.. fuck that. I tried to get on Obamacare a week ago but enrollment is now closed for a couple months or more.

It's really shitty that we have to pay doctors and pharmaceutical companies for decent pain meds. We could be growing poppies and harvesting them in our backyard if it was legal.. Also, antibiotics should be over the counter.

I laughed about growing poppies. Ha!

I agree about antibiotics, mostly. People would overuse them more so than they are already; that's the only downside I can see. But there's no reason I should need to pay a large sum to see a professional to get a prescription for an infection I clearly know I have. An abscess doesn't just magically happen...

Is it your back or rib? I've only bruised a rib, but have 2 "squished vertebrae", as the doc put it. It sucked when it happened. I know what it's like not being able to move from the pain.

Yeah I understand about the antibiotics, but there are so many varieties. Just make at least 2 or 3 over the counter as a first line of defense, then we can go to the doctor if that doesn't work. It will never happen though, that's big business.

I think it's a rib. Yeah it sucks to not really be able to do anything but sustain my life and be on the computer or TV for the past couple weeks. Hopefully it heals up soon.

Yeah having my own poppy garden would be great. At the very least real pain meds should be legal to keep in a first aid kit. Imagine if you seriously injured yourself and all you have is some tylenol and ibuprofen.. that's not going to do anything.

Can we talk about other people's Unhealth too? Unhealth is seriously the biggest misery in my life right now.

-My mom is battling cancer for the 3rd time. This time it has spread to her brain and spinal cord. The doctor asked if her affairs were in order and we took that as a sign she probably isn't going to make it.

-My last grandparent had a heart attack this week. She will be put in a home soon.

-Other stuff I don't even want to get into.

That's rough about your mom :erk: Sorry to hear about that. I'm not looking forward to my mom getting older and dealing with health issues.

Yeah, very sorry to hear that. That is rough. My mother lucked out with ovarian cancer, my uncle (who raised me) survived Hodgkins and throat cancer, grandma gone to lung cancer, etc. I can't imagine how one deals with something like that. Ugh.

I was aiming more for colds and broken knuckles, haha. Not heart wrenching shit like that...

Damn, sorry to hear about other shit people are dealing with. My current problem is tame in comparison.

I'm battling a wicked sinus infection: sore throat and occasional cough, congestion/draining, sinus pressure and headaches. It started several days ago, and certainly wasn't helped by the fact that I was traveling and going about on long walks all day, drinking alcohol, and getting little sleep. I had yesterday and have today off, so I'm trying to recuperate; drinking lots of green tea, orange juice, and eating fruits. On top of that, I'm taking naps when I feel the need. This combined with jet lag has thrown my body into total biological confusion. I was wide awake at 4:00 am this morning.

At any rate, I wouldn't be complaining so much except that I have to start teaching tomorrow and I really don't want to sound/look like I do while standing in front of my kids. But whatever, you can only do so much.

Hope everyone else starts to feel better soon.

Saline and that vapor stuff always helps me. Advil liquid gels are the shit too.

I use Mucinex. Expensive but worth it.

I just had my last 2 bottom left molars pulled. I'm terrified of dry socket, but fuck that I am smoking anyway.

They both were abscessed, and he said they had been at least a year. There's another that's slightly abscessed but it will lose infection with the antibiotics I guess.

For some reason i woke up with my ear feeling clogged and hearing my heartbeat in my ear. If I hadn't partially lost my hearing for a while this year I'd probably brush it off.
But I did lose it, so now I'm expecting my eardrum to explode or something any second now.
