As an idea removed from science it is not necessarily stupid. Though I am not too familiar with what ID propagates other than what the name implies.

Actualy, it seems to me to be more of an alternate idea for people who don't ignore the inadequacies of the supposed "Fact" of evolution.

It's also an argument from ignorance. Just because we don't completely understand a natural phenomenon does not mean it is the work of a supernatural being. That's the same logic that made Zeus the origin of lightning and Helios responsible for the Sun 'circling the Earth'.

Why did you make this thread? You should have made an evolution thread. I meant to make one eventually, but I wasn't prepared to yet. I have no interest in discussing Intelligent Design at this point. I am more interested in discussing evolution as presented. The problem with an ID discussion is that when evolutionists run into unanswerable questions or inconsistencies, they always turn to a) Creationist/Creation Science/ID bashing and the standby "No person of any intelligence doubts evolution". Neither of those are adequate answers to anything.
I don't know enough about the scientific claims of ID, but I am beginning to understand what evolution presents.

Um, not really. There aren't any real problems with the theory of evolution, just some bits of information we haven't found yet. Bashing ID is quite it's own thing. There is no need to attack creationism to hide anything about evolutionary theory, but there is need to attack idiocies that the great majority of people ignorantly cling to.

The scientific community rightly shuns ID because it is not a testable hypothesis as to how the universe works. Even though evolution is not wholly understood, there is reason to believe that scientists will gain a better understanding over time. There's nothing to be discovered or learned regarding ID.

Intelligent design is dumb. It doesn't explain biodiversity and it doesn't explain religion. There is also no apparent reality to justify anyones belief in it.
