Just watched it this morning, the first half hour was a bit naff but started to pick up after that. It wasn't *hilarious* but was still proper funny.
As for the ending... the possible ending to Futurama... They certainly leave it open for it to return. It was kinda like the ending to season 4.

They're being chased by Zapp Branigan and to get away they fly into a black hole, Farnsworth says if they fly in to it they "may possibly never return". Leela confesses her love for Fry and they kiss.
That's the end. It might come back... but if not...
