the leper affinity

it seems to involve some guy raping a corpse he once loved in life. in a coffin. that is what i see and the said protagionist is so obseessed he seems to be giving this body emotions which it cannot have.

Thats a pretty gruesome and disgusting interpretation. I surely hope that Mikael did not have this in mind!! I always thought that Mikael was using leprosy as a metaphor for the fallen human condition. Like sin being a disease. And the song is written from the perspective of this disease.

Mike's words on Opeth's songs: the real interpretation of the songs is whatever you see fit.

Or something like that.

But yea, I think it's about rape murder and necrophelia.

Jinn-
Wow. you really think that's what its about?! I always thought that Mikael wrote more metaphorically and not so much literally. And if that song is literal...that's just plain evil and disgusting. I hope my interpretation is more accurate (Lepersy being a metaphor for the human condition or sin). Anyone else care to share their thoughts?

dude, what the fuck is wrong with you???

If you think THAT is disgusting, you need to go listen to some Cannibal Corpse.

Try starting with their song Worm-Infested. Or maybe Stripped Raped and Strangled, Butchered at Birth, Fucked with a Knife... etc.

Grow some balls you fucking pussy.
