The Wachowski's know how to make a movie look cool... they know how to make an uncharismatic actor bearable (Reeves only gets about 15 lines of dialogue)...I'll give them that much....


but they stretched a barely there plotline for 2 hours by taking every fight scene well beyond overkill...
the chemistry between Moss and Reeves was non-existent... and poor Lawrence Fishburne is saddled with the silliest dialogue...

the car chase was great though...

.... don't worry, I won't spoil it for you... but if you go see it... stay after the credits...

The reviews for this film have been wildly all over the place. Some sources have said the film is so-so, some have said it blows away the original.

Also got to see the commercial last night for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Comes out July 2nd and the advance footage looks great!

I won't see The Terminator 3. The director is not James Cameron, the actor that did the young John Connor in Terminator 2 was replaced by another, the movie soundtrack will not be done by Brad Fiedel like the previous ones and Arnie looks too old to make a fearful terminator.

My spoiler-free 'review' from the Maiden BB:

[font=verdana, arial, helvetica]And as much as I wanted to like it, I came away with the feeling that I'd just seen one of the most pretentious movies ever made, albeit a pretentious movie with some stunning action sequences.

But some parts really tempted me to get up and walk out. Literally.

"Better than X2?" asked a friend of mine as we walked to our cars afterwards. I just snorted... "no fucking way".

I'm certain that some will come away from it proclaiming it to be one of the best films ever, others that it was one of the worst. I personally feel it could've easily been twenty times better.

Go for the action sequences - the fights and the car chase are fabulous. It has some genuinely funny moments of humour as well (Link in particular is ace). But be prepared for it to try and dazzle you with its intellectual and philosphical wisdom, when in fact it is as deep as a puddle and painfully, agonisingly annoying in several spots.

A less-than-worthy follow-up to a modern classic... and that's being nice.

I'll still go and see The Matrix Revolutions later this year, but in all honesty, I don't think I really care any more.

I'm hoping that the 3rd one will make this one make a lot more sense. It's not a piece of crap, but it didn't feel complete at all the same way the first one did. There was a lot of extraneous stuff that seemed to be added on just for effects. But yea, still pretty tight movie.

I've heard really mixed reviews. Also how was Jada Pinkett Smith? I hate her and when I heard she was involved I became nervous. Was she awful or good or just no big deal?

I'm still going to give it a chance. I liked Terminator better than T2. I didn't really like Eddie Furlong in T2, Robert Patrick is what made that movie for me. As far as action / suspense goes, I think Jonathan Mostow (dir of T3) will do a good job. I liked some of his other movies (Breakdown, U-571). Yes, Arnold is older but what is much more noticeable to me is how much smaller her is. He's lost half his bulk. Only thing that made me sketchy about T3 was seeing Claire Danes was in it. Something about her just annoys the hell out of me.

True - and the stars. Isn't Arnold getting like 35 Mil for T3? That's ridiculous! Meanwhile, we have to pay like $10 for a ticket to the movie.

My friend just turned me on to The Animatrix ~ short animated stories that tell the orgin of the matrix and the history of some of the film's characters. Not only is the vid and sound quality excellent, but the writing (4 episodes done by Larry and Andy Wachowski) is as compelling as the original movie. You can see em free here.....
