I saw this movie yesterday at the value cinema up in Gwinnett where the Venture mall used to be, I guess it's called Fiesta mall now.

It's in extremely limited release since Friday and for some reason only playing in Dollar theatres. I don't know why Lionsgate films undervalued this movie as it is getting great reviews what little there are and is a really understimated film. It's directed by the Japanese director who also did the movie "Versus" which is somewhat famous if you are into anime or Japanese cinema.

This is a decent horror movie. It cost us $4 for 2 people to see it and worth every penny.

I really don't want to spoil the movie for anyone and talk about the plot too much.

If you like a good 80's style horror movie check it out, it's also got enough gore in it to classify as torture porn and make anyone a vegetarian.

I dont have any dollar theatres near me but ill definitely wait for video release. Borderline porno movie title though rofl

I have read some stories about the behind-the-scenes shenanigans as to how this movie got screwed. I was disappointed to learn its fate.

I've been curious about this movie since I learned it was being made. It's an adaptation of the only Clive Barker short story to ever freak me out. The only story ever, actually...so that's a pretty big deal. ;)

I am DYING to see this! And I didn't know it was playing anywhere near Atlanta.

EDIT: Nevermind I found the theater you were talking about. I should've just asked the local girlfriend first!

It definitely was pretty far down the list for me for stories in the "Books of Blood", and I was surprised it ever got made to be honest. I am a huge horror fan though, so I will check it out. I didn't know it made any theaters. Last I heard, it was getting the fast track straight to DVD. I'm going to go look for it.

At least according to Yahoo, it's not playing anywhere between here, and at least through LA which I find hard to believe. Still, I don't see it on any site within 100 miles. That sucks.

I found it in Atlanta via Fandango, I know there is user updated list of the theaters showing it on a horror website called Bloody Disgusting.

Yeah, I found the Atlanta theaters on Bloody Disgusting, too. (I just hadn't seen the updated list).

And if you've been following the drama behind the scenes, you might find it ironic that the new CEO of Lionsgate Joe Drake has his movie The Strangers playing at the same theater (Venture Cinema) as MMT. Funny that it bombed, but MMT is getting decent reviews. There is some justice after all.

They really did set this movie up to fail. I found a theater on that site, about 60 miles away and in the middle of horse country. It's also a cheapy $1 theater.

Why didn't they just release it straight to DVD? Why go through the motions, unless they had some contract stating they had to at least give it a theatrical release. Their goal is obviously not to make any money on it though. Probably again some contract where they have to pay someone net from the theater release.

Just got back from seeing MMT...and the good reviews are warranted. It's one of the best Clive Barker screen adaptations I've seen--second only to Hellraiser. Even a Barker fanboy like me has to admit there have been some atrocities linked to Barker films (Transmutations, anyone?), but my high hopes for this one weren't squashed. Track it down and go see it!

Trivia point (non-spoiler): Anyone else notice that all the artwork in the gallery at the beginning of the movie was Clive's own paintings?
