Personally I'd have to say any popular nu-metal bands; KorN, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, as these tend to lure more people to listening to them despite the music being of far lower quality than proper metal. Listening to KorN (although I hate them now) got me hooked on thrash metal, which lead to death and black and other more obscure genres, so I'm not going to complain too much.

The obvious other genre is emo *cough* metal *cough* like My Chemical Romance, who are teh suck.

I doubt there is a single band that is universally hated. There will always be fans of any type of music, regardless of its own standards. Take harsh noise for example.

I mean most metal fans are like this- towards Black Sabbath but not all metal fans are.

Maybe if the hateful threads stay open not as many will keep popping up? People are going to hate shit & want to come onto forums to talk about it, there's nothing anyone here can do to change that.

Besides this is a pretty broad topic & not like the one that only referred to MetalCore, so I'm going to go with my personal most hated band "Fall Out Boy".

Haha! Word. You know, it's funny...I don't find any noise to be extreme at all anymore, though I certainly remember first hearing Merzbow...yikes.
