The new chat thread - now with bitter arguing

Ah. I don't like WoW (I beta tested but got bored quickly after release). But I still play a lot of Tribes of the East (which was a lot, lot better than the original release / Hammers of Fate). I never beat the campaign. Mostly play my friends / duel mode. I've also played a bunch of Heroes 2 and 3, probably more Heroes 3 than any other game. But the combat in 5 is so freaking neat...

Anyway, just wondering. Only prob with Heroes 5 is so few maps, maybe you were a junkie like me and had made some good large + types for FFA and team games. ^_^

Michael Jackson is still getting it done

Michael Jackson's farewell shows that he will give in London
are all sold out as all 1 million tickets were sold in less than a day -

There will be more shows if there is a demand - was said when it was announced; was it speculation or not, let's see what happens.

Was going about trying to find who will release what in the upcoming months and then:

The band said:
ANAAL NATHRAKH - IN THE CONSTELLATION OF THE BLACK WIDOW will be released through Candlelight Records on June 29th 2009.

A limited Edition Vinyl will also be released be FETO Records the same month. More info coming soon...

I am happy.

Oh yeah! I caught this:
mpampis2a.jpg

He had a short trip to the frying pan, and then a slightly longer one to my stomach.

He was indeed beautiful, his colours were stunning, and he was the best tasting fish i've had. I held him in my hands and caressed him till he left his last breath (i considered CPR for a second, but his internal injuries were too big). RIP Mpampis.

Me too. They keep getting better IMO.

If I did this with most of the fish I catch here in the States I'd probably get some sort of disease or poisoning. That being said congrats on the catch, and fishing is awesome. This certainly proves it doesn't have to be relegated to the hick or redneck communities to be awesome.

Thanks. :) I feel quite proud, and fishing is indeed awesome. I'm hoping to go boat fishing soon.
So what do you do with the fish? Are the waters dirty? Do you eat them (the fish, not the waters)?

I fish inland in rivers and lakes for freshwater fish like bass and perch and a few other things - those fish you can't eat. However, those fish are the ones that people fish for in competitions (that are boring) and for records.

I do some surf fishing (off of a beach) and I've fished more than a few times on a boat. Some of the stuff I catch in the ocean is good to eat: stripped bass, drumfish (google it if you're unfamiliar, they're cool but ugly fish), bluefish, flounder. Most of those are native to the north atlantic and are pretty pedestrian (but fun to catch). I also get a lot of unedible sharks that are really fun to fish for but you can't eat them.

A lot of this stuff has to do with my local state laws that regulate which fish I can catch, which I can eat, how big they have to be, how many I'm allowed to catch on one trip, etc. I get a lot of enjoyment out of fishing, its relaxing but can also be very fun and challenging, so I think its great that you've had a good experience.

Oh, and some of the rivers and lakes in my state are pretty polluted and even though I don't think fishing is technically prohibited, most people (including myself) refrain from fishing there. Whatever nastiness may be in the water will also be in the fish.

Happy fishing though, and I hope you get a really big one so you can go without buying groceries for a week. :p

@DoC: I'm a novice in the field and perhaps a bit stupid, but i don't see why people would want to fish something they can't eat. I understand not fishing in dirty waters, not fishing baby-fish, accidentally catching unedible things, but i don't understand fishing on purpose for stuff you can't eat.
I do find fishing extremely relaxing and enjoyable too, but for me it's the endless staring at the sea that does it, so i'm strongly considering the option of just feeding the fish sometimes.
Thanks for your wishes, but i hope i don't catch anything too big, in fear of feeding the fish with myself. :p

@Siren: Fishing for fish you can't eat is a sport here in the States, kind of like trophy hunting. Its basically the guys that try and compensate for their lack of penis size, or something. I sometimes fish for things in the river I can't eat - like catfish or carp - because I just find it fun. If the weather is nice and its not crowded with other fishermen/women I like to do it just to relax. I also like the challenge of catching something that puts up a big fight. It might be a dumb masculinity thing, or like a sport, or something very primitive about being able to provide for myself and a family - maybe all of them. Either way, it can be fun.

That being said I'd much rather catch something I can eat, because its double the reward. I don't know what kind of fish you have around you, but they can be quite tasty sometimes so it can be well worth it.

Sport fishermen are good people, at least most of them are. When I was little my dad took us fishing every once in a while, and it was his friends that complained about overfishing and chumming for snorkelers more than anyone I've met (this was in Florida). They end up fishing so few fish a year, and throw 99% of the ones they catch back. You probably kill more fish from the fish you eat regularly than a sport fisherman does fishing.

The people wrecking our fish are the commercial fishermen, especially the illegal type... wish they'd put a global moratorium on fishing for like a year and pursue people who practice bottom trawling more aggressively...

The sport fishermen around me are dicks, but they're good ole' boys and are very insular, so it just might be that my neck is not red enough. That being said, I really agree that commercial fishing is doing a great deal more damage. Recently a group of scientists called for a 20 year fishing ban on between 20%-30% of the world's ocean in order to give fish populations a chance to regroup. I support this, and I do wish they would do more to protect the oceanic wildlife because so little is known about the ocean. I'd like to learn more while its still possible.

@Naglfar: Throwing them back makes sense, and i completely agree with what you and DoC said about commercial fishing. Btw, i usually avoid eating fish. :p

@DoC: I'm not sure what kind of fish we have here, i just know they're sea-fish. I suppose i'll learn more about them as i keep fishing with people who know more than me. The only other thing i know is that my friends regularly bring out octopuses. However, i live for the moment i'll meet some dolphins, my friends reported seeing some around here.
