The new chat thread - now with bitter arguing

Good grief, you only just started watching Scrubs? What on earth took you so long? The first three series are fantastic, but the next 3 aren't so good in my opinion since they turn more cartoony in style. Turk sneaking JD in to see a film by hiding him in a backpack, for example, is just a bit too silly for me. It started to improve with the sixth series though, and the seventh was almost on par with the first three. Damn shame it got cut short, but at least it meant they all decided to do an eigth series together.

In attempting to describe House's character to someone who hadn't seen it before, I said something along the lines of "a cross between Dr Cox and Sherlock Holmes". I personally doubt that it was deliberately based on Cox, though for no particular reason. There are a couple of references to House in Scrubs though which I thought were hilarious, once when Kelso said something like "Ah, Perry, you're so edgy and cantankerous. You're like House, but without the limp." and later on a whole episode that parodied House, with a medical mystery and Cox even hurting his foot and having to use a cane. I larfed.

The fact that noone in this country has ever bothered with it (yes, we're very backwards), and none of my foreign friends has ever bothered with it either. Plus sheer laziness.

Of course the mood of the two series is completely different (and "based on" was an exaggeration on my part, but i was -again- too lazy to edit). But as DoC said some of the sarcasm is there, and i would add the use of long sentences, wanting to be left alone and especially wanting to be left alone while watching their favourite soap.

I have a new goal in life, and that is to watch all the seasons of scrubs.

must-see for all bad religion fans (the guy's out of tune, but the idea is funny)

Every Bad Religion show I go the set list is always the same
Of course there are a few changes, but the classics
They never go away
Why you keep singing every night
"you and me have a disease"?
If you could play "In So Many Ways"
Or "Leave Mine To Me"

Different Songs
Well I think to myself is it "Too Much To Ask"?
Different Songs
"You´ve Got A Chance but it seems so far away"

When you release a new album
You come to my city to play only four songs of it
Ignoring the fact that the tour has the album´s name
"No Control", "Recipe for Hate"
"Suffer" and "Sorrow" every day
Well I´m sad you forgot your human ability to change :)lol:  )

Different Songs
"New America", "Gray Race", both of them in disgrace
Different Songs
If you could play some b-sides it will be even better by the way

I read you´re planning some thematic shows in States
On "The Bad Religion Page"
But I´ll keep my protest on "rewriting" this tune
Those theme shows will be temporary
or whole world include?

Different Songs
"Waiting as a murder child I feel a Strange Denial"
Different Songs
I still think to myself is it "Too Much To Ask?"
Different Songs
I am not the only one, just listen to the crowd
Different Songs
You keep playing the same but 'I Want Something...
Mooooooore"
That´s for sure

I'll be honest. I laughed pretty hard. But Gray Race isn't a bad album... why do people pick on it... :(

I don't even own the New America. My cousin went to a Bad Religion show in Tampa a couple of years ago, not long after it came out, and I can't remember if he said it was the NOFX guy, but whatever frontman from the band that played before Bad Religion told the crowd "don't worry guys, they're not playing anything off the New America tonight!" The whole crowd went YEAH! and Bad Religion indeed did not play any New America. And my cousin was very happy.

I've only heard tNA a couple of times.. and I only bothered to save four songs on the computer but I don't know if it's that much worse than No Substance or Process of Belief.. probably though.
I'd recommend you download Don't Sell Me Short though.. it's really one of my favorites when it comes to modern day BR.

There's a poll somewhere (here) that includes DT's Punish my Heavens ( ). I can't be arsed to make a thread, so feel free to: a) vote, b) make a thread, c) ignore this.

I don't read it either. Someone who speaks it should let us know. But using my english and my uber-kvlt language skills, i'd say it has something to do with death metal, voting, Metal Hammer, and die besten 111 songs. Also, it's important to note that only death is real, everything else is a fantasy. n_n

edit: I found the link from some lame bulletin Angela Gossow posted on myspace. Paraphrasing her: "Please vote for DARK TRANQUILLITY on METAL HAMMER Germany ’Best 111 Death Metal Songs of all time!!!". She's desperate, yep.

Yep, that is what it says, "the greatest death metal songs of all time". Voted for Dark Tranquillity obviously. I do not know 90% of those anyways.

I was familiar with about half of those songs, and some of them I've liked a lot for many years (Heartwork, Slaughter of the Soul, Black Winter Day, Black Tears, Life Demise, etc), but majority of the newer stuff was unknown to me. Also, many great songs were missing and many once great bands had some stupid-ass crap song listed there, instead of their better stuff. Still, the poll gave a me a nice breath of nostalgy and I feel all warm and fuzzy inside right now - that's what death metal does to you, I say! :heh:

DT's a death metal band now? What? lol

Well, in the broad sense of the term, that's pretty much what they've been labeled for nearly two decades now. Of course, they've always been pretty far away from the stereotypical death metal - but these days most of the bands are, even many of those that call themselves "old school". Death metal hasn't been a clearly defined genre of music since the early nineties - nowadays the scope is just as wide as that of "rock", I'd say.

That's what I was poking fun at. It's not like, well, they CAN'T be death metal, but basically everything under the sun is death metal nowadays.

Not quite sure I buy that anything that doesn't sound like 1980s death metal is really death metal (except Edge of Sanity and a host of bands that end in -ation). But that's me being stubborn.

I recall that there was a more suitable thread for youtube-videos and the like, but the search-function has failed me once again, and I just have to post this piece of brilliance somewhere, so here it goes:
