The New Iced Earth has possibly the worst lyrics ever

WTEC is so bad. So very, very bad.

Most of the lyrics just read like a textbook, thats the main issue I have with them.

For once Koich, I agree with you.

*pauses to count horsemen riding past- one, two, three... it's all right, we're safe.*

I predict this album will flop harder than Roseanne Barr on a trampoline, then Ripper will get the blame and Jon will sack him. It's not his fault, you arrogant jerk-off! The problem is that you wrote 80+ minutes of mediocre, self-indulgent crap and have your nose buried so far up your own arse that you haven't noticed yet.

(Ahem!)

I don't like TGB at all, as you might have noticed. Ripper's vocals are the only thing that make it listenable.

 Flop? Its already sold more in 3 months than Horror Show has to date, and Horror Show was their biggest selling album previously :) Also remember IE only just started the tours for the album as well, its going to sell very well for a band on an "underground" label...

Fair point, Spawn. Still doesn't make it a good or even competent album IMHO.

I'll take Demons and Wizards over TGB any day of the week. Hansi screeching "praise to the glorious race of rats" suddenly doesn't sound quite so silly.

Well I think its 40 minutes of good to great stuff and the rest is pretty much IE filler by the numbers. It was worth buying, but its Iced Earths worst album so far IMO, thats if we discount the first albums singer because the songs on the first album are unbelievably good, but the singer was AWFUL.

TGB actually sounds like a Demons And Wizards album to me, on all those choruses where Tim sings high I can just picture Hansi doing it...

I think the success of Demons And Wizards was the worst thing to happen to Iced Earth, Jon made more money from that one album than he had in his entire career up to that point with IE. The label not ripping him off probably helped of course. But since then everything he has done has been similair to it, especially TGB, Horror Show was still a really heavy album, whereas TGB isnt heavy at all. I guess its only natural that Jon would continue writing in the style that was so successful, he does still have to eat after all, I just hope IE doesnt turn into a power metal band because TGB is only barely not a power metal album :(

Totally agree! When I heard it, this was my exact reaction:

"Bad songs, great vocals."
