The new Nevermore album is Godly

I respectfully disagree.

He's a "douchebag" because he doesn't feel it's OK for Century Media to screw him? They cut Nevermore's budget by two thirds. They wouldn't allow Nevermore to work in the studio that they had used for "Dead Heart". They wouldn't let Nevermore use the producer they wanted (Sneap). All of this led to the original release being of inferior sound quality. That hardly makes Britt a "douchebag", because he doesn't feel he should have to buy the CD again, from the record company that screwed its own band and its fans. Especially, when you consider that Britt buys tons of CDs, and many from CM artists.

^^What he said.

Ashaman, I think you misunderstood Britt's intention with his post. In a sarcastic way he was expressing his dislike for the like for the original release of EoR, which he bought and paid for. CM then clearly acknowledges the fact that the production on this release was less than stellar by backing the remastered version, which, to be honest SHOULD have been available at very low cost to purchasers of the original release (perhaps via a bar code on the original or something). Anyway, in this particular case, I don't think there's anything wrong whatsoever with obtaining a copy of the re-release and using it as a substitute for the bought and paid for version.

Believe me, I have much disdain as well for those who simply download albums for free and never support the artists or the scene - Britt is not one of those people. He is a good guy and true supporter of the scene.

Geez...a guy has a few beers and tries to be an instigator...

Ends up getting everybody's panties in a wad...sorry...

For the record, I bought EoR twice. Maybe that was stupid, but I'm a collector...and I was thrilled to have a "proper" version.

Secondly, I was responding to Zine's somewhat pompous, elitist tone as he described what he listened to and liked...but this IS the PPUSA forum...where we are all pompous, elitist metal scum, right?

Anyway...nothing personal at all...just getting rid of some troll-like tendencies, I guess...

What does get MY panties in a twist is being chastised by our resident Pumpkin boy...whose, what...8?...and only listens to high-brow prog? Wow...guess I've been told...

Me too, but I'd buy Warrell's grocery list, so I'm not the right person to go by.

I guess calling someone a douchebag isn't what you would call "personal", huh? For now on try to post to this board only when you are sober. It's obvious that your reading and comprehension skills aren't for shit when under the influence.

That is just damn funny!!!! lol
I am a huge Warrel fan myself so you will have to fight me over that grocery list... lol

See, i Love the self titles...i listen to it quite often... :)
i think i like it a lot more than most people do.. maybe it is because i was so beside myself when i found out Dane formed a new band and it is just one of those albums i will always love...

Hmmm... I would actually put EoR (the remastered version) up way higher than the Nevermore self-titled debut, which I enjoy occasionally, but not all that much. Now if we'ere talking Politics, the In Memory EP, Dead Heart, Dreaming, I agree with ya, though the remastered version really is growing by leaps and bounds the more I listen to it.:)

Also, dead on about Sanctuary - just awesome, awesome stuff featuring an early Warrel Dane with a higher octave range than the Nevermore albums that would follow. "Future Tense" off Into the Mirror Black is incredible.

I think we all have all kinds of music we like and not everyone likes every band...that is what is so cool.. there is always someone who does like it...and someone who does not, but you just respect what other people like. Hell, I am a horror nerd, so I buy horror sound tracks and listen to them quite often.... :)

Have you picked up the soundtrack to "Devils Rejects?" enjoying it?

you know, i usally do classical soundtracks like Hellraiser or Poltergiest....
i heard that has a 70's like soundtrack...i have not had the chance of seeing the movie yet.

I really need to go back and listen to this disc. I got turned on to Nevermore shortly after the release of "Dreaming". Shortly there after, I picked up "Politics". I pretty much bought the debut and the EP to complete my collection, but haven't spent much time with either. I believe I will be righting that wrong.

a friend recorded me a tape of the first one and said "this is Warrel Dane's new band" in about 95 i guess.... and i lost it... they were instantly my fave band... so i have a weak spot for that album... i got a promo of politics and did not give it much chance at first... liked it okay...then after dreaming, i fell in love with politics as well. i hope you love the first one as much as i do... but i am partial.

CM then clearly acknowledges the fact that the production on this release was less than stellar by backing the remastered version, which, to be honest SHOULD have been available at very low cost to purchasers of the original release

It was. When it first came out, CM allowed people to order the disc by itself for $5, which could then be placed in the original EoR jewel case. However, even $5 is a rip-off; they should have allowed people to replace it for free (via some sort of exchange program, similar to what Noise did in 2000 for the defective pressing of Virgin Steele - The House of Atreus, Act One). In essence, what CM did was sold people a shitty version, and then said, "If you give us $5 more, you can have the good version," thus effectively raising the price if the cd from, say, $14, which it SHOULD have cost, to $19 (or more, for people who didn't know about this deal, which appears to be a lot of people).

i see you are in Cleveland..... i am headed up there in a couple of weeks...any suggestions....
(i will give you my copy if you want it.... i will have two.. :)

I did hear about that 5 dollar deal, but I wasn't interested in giving CM more money for something I already purchased and was unhappy with. Plus, I didn't know for sure that the redone verison would be a big improvement at that time. It did turn out to be like night and day, but I still can't fork over any more money for that one. I think it was a ripoff to charge someone twice for something that was clearly their wrong doing.

By the way I also was one of the folks that bought that VS disc. I wrote an email to someone at noise and they sent me a replacement in a paper cd sleeve. It would have been nice if CM would have done that for EoR instead of trying to soak the public for a few more bucks.

Cool, thanks for clarifying. :)

Wow...didn't mean to offend your tender sensibilities, dude. Despite having to respond to your very non-metal response (hehe)...

I'll invite you to have a cold one (and a laugh) on me at PPUSA6.

Rock on!

By the way, as far as I know you still can get it for $5 just the CD at the Century Media store. I didn't buy it the first time......and what I heard from it didn't make me want to spend $5 to buy it the second time.....combined with the fact that I'm not going to Gigantour, but I might try it again.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. Someone with a little better sense of humor can stand in for me.

Britt

Ok I got it.. and I really like it. I think they keep getting better with each album, and that's a plus. I did like EOR, you could hear the songs, but the production took so much away, I've been trying to track down the remaster, so maybe I'll just order from CM online.

One thing I miss.. the Warrell screams. None on this album that I've heard so far.

i see you are in Cleveland..... i am headed up there in a couple of weeks...any suggestions....

Are you talking to me? Suggestions on what?
