The News Thread

i don't even understand how this is even happening

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/09/15/bipartisan-senate-same-sex-marriage-deal-00056946

what i mean to say is
how the fuck is same-sex-marriage even on the table as a thing policy-makers can even argue about at all after the obergefell decision

obergefell decided that gay people are still people and therefore have the right to get married
any kind of argument about this makes no fucking sense

because, any kind of decision made would only be necessary if Obergafell was somehow overturned

but why would obergafell be overturned?? that makes no fucking sense
overturning obergafell wouldn't actually affect straight people in anyway whatsoever
so going through the process of overturning it would be even more difficult than overturning Roe V Wade
and why the fuck would anyone go through this effort
the first country to officially accept gay marriage was 4 fucking decades ago and when obergafell finally happened the whole rest of the world was wondering why America hadn't done it way the fuck sooner

the idea that obergafell could ever e overturned still seems unbelievable even though roe v wade got overturned

J.D. Vance wins Ohio, but Fetterman beat Oz. Boebert's out in Colorado, Maura Healey won in MA. Kari Lake and Herschel Walker are too fucking close for comfort in AZ and GA, respectively. All in all, not the red wave people feared but definitely not good. If GA elects fucking Herschel Walker, man...

EDIT: shit, might have called CO too soon. Fucking insane.
