Shinedown aren't metal, neither are Steel Panther. Kerrang hasn't said they are either, so hmmm don't know where you are getting that from sadly.

they're the type of bands that get covered in those mags. Shinedown sounded like Seether and other various metal bands like that. I know it isnt strictly metal, but it definatly isnt rock.

And Steel Panther are a metal band. The song Death To All But Metal may be a joke, (well the band is a joke band so...) but its metal none the less.
